Mannix Dodge Dart Convertible
Posted by MG Brown on Sunday, March 22, 2020 12:17 PM

I was discussing the possibility of building the Barris Dodge Dart GTS from the TV show "Mannix" with a friend.

We have the hardtop Dart GTS available but wondered if anyone in the aftermarket might have made parts needed to do a convertible conversion?

Any help or ideas are appreciated.

As far as I know there are no conversion kits for the '68 Dart hardtop to make a convertible.  I built the '68 Dart GTS into a convertible to make the Mannix Dart GTS Convertible years ago.  I cut off the top and added a convertible boot from the AMT '70 Dodge Challenger R/T.  Be very careful of your cuts to the hardtop as the boot must cover the hardtop rear quarters.  You will need to modify the Dart hood to include two small scoops on the hood bulges and make a rear spoiler.  Mine also has Cragar SS mags and I converted a telephone into the mobile telephone (minus the antenna) to the dash.

I also converted the '74 Plymouth 'Cuda into the Mannix '72 'Cuda Convertible and I used the boot cover from the AMT '70 Challenger R/T kit and the dual scoop hood and the extra bumpers from the Revell '70 Hemi 'Cuda as well.
