How to chop a top
Posted by NewB71 on Monday, February 18, 2019 4:24 AM

I am making plans for my next project. It is going to be a rat rod and I will be using a '32 Ford Victoria as the basis. I could use the procedures involvrd in chopping the top.

Thanks

Bob

Bob....the "Car Modeler 1999 Annual" had an article that included steps on chopping a 1934 Ford Pickup (the body was slightly revised to duplicate a 1932 cab), on pages 30-35.  This publication was a sister mag to Scale Auto, but I don;t see a listing for it on the Scale Auto back issue website page.  Maybe a search on eBay might turn up the issue....the steps on chopping a '32 Vicky body would be nearly the same.  Good luck....TIM

PS - here is an image of the completed model from the article...DSC 0583

Give this a look. What it doesn't show is that you may have to cut across the top so it lines up with the A pillar, or realign the piller to match the top.

I just did my first chop on a 3 window Deuce last month. Good luck.
