Spray Booth mods
Posted by aussiemuscle308 on Sunday, September 23, 2018 1:38 AM

i bought a cheap spray booth from a quality chinese seller. it's a pretty good device, but one short coming was the extentable exhaust hose was held onto a 1 inch collar with a large press clip. it was hard to put the hose over the collar and hold it there until i could get the clip over the hose. a trip to the hardware store provided this fix. I found a 100mm end piece and screw on end cap. the hose fits nicely over the end cap and the screw in part makes attaching it easy.

I drilled out the end cap with the dremel cut off wheel and superglued it to the back of the collar of the booth

I put the other attachment onto the hose. i can now screw the hose onto the booth when needed

Here's the plumbing parts in place

Spray booths in the UK are pretty expensive, so when the Open University warehouse closed, where I was working, as a lot of stuff was being thrown I took away a large think composite cardbourd carry box that had been used to transport computer equipment for our summer schools.

I put it on a small table in my garden cabin allowing the lid to drop down in front. I then went to a Hardware warehouse and bought one of their last kitchen cooker hoods, ( they are all wall fitted, polished alloy units now)which has internal light and three strength extarctor fan. It also came with the alloy coated vent pipe, so I can put that outside through the door when I'm spraying. It cost just £40 all up. That was seven years ago.
