Drilling holes in Styrene Rod
Posted by Evil Appetite on Saturday, September 22, 2018 7:50 AM

Does anyone have a way to drill prefectly centered holes into the end of styrene rod or hex rod? Rather than spend $10 per pack of hex filltings I'd like to make my own.

Like they say in the wood working world, measure twice, cut once.  In the model building world, measure twice, drill once.  Other than that, I don't have a way other than to measure carefully and try to be as accurate as I can when I drill.

I have used 2 sizes of brass tube. The larger tube to go over the outside of the hex rod. The other would slip inside of that tube which should center the drill on the hex rod.

I do the same. It's the easiest way.

My favorite color is clear. I am also ambidexterous, I can screw up equally well with either hand. I am 53 years old and been building for most of that time. :)
