Oldies but Goodies ?

 How about this ?

I went into an antique store and found some models . First and best . Ed " Big Daddy Roth 's "  " Road Agent ". Unbuilt , pristine in the box ! In the original bags !

Then , well , unexpectedly an old kit I don't remember . A Renwal !! 1/48 scale Deusenberg Dual Cowl Torpedo Phaeton , started but not a glue bomb . All parts there in the original box too ! Same colors as it's MONOGRAM Big Brother !

Lastly , We all Remember the Highway Pioneers by Gowland and Gowland ? Then Revell got hold of the company in 1950 ! Well , how about this ? A first issue under the Revell flag , the 1911 model " T " and a Renault Town car !

All for free ! The shop owner and I were haggling over the price ,30.00  for all of them and , Uh Oh ! my card was declined . ( Yeah , I mess up sometimes that way too ! ) so we haggled some more . He asked what I had in my Pocket . Well all I had was Nine Bucks . !

He thought about it and said " You'll build them ? " I said  "Sure ,that's what I want them for " . Well , I walked out of his store with them . He told me to take them as they'd been there ten months with no interest shown and good luck .

How about that for falling into some weird luck ? Went to the bank and I wasn't overdrawn . banker said off network machines will do that sometimes . I guess it was meant to be  , because we tried twice  . The Road Agent is being cleaned of flash ( a small amount ) and then well , you know the rest !

Great story and a great find.  The Renwal 1/48 series were great; they had their own display cases.  I found your Deusy below.  I wish these would get re-released; perhaps Revell's new owners will do this.  As I recall they were really good for 1/48 and had more detail than you'd think.  Please post a pic of the '34 when it is done.

LOL, found that kit, sealed on Ebay:  $39.99 plus shipping.  You should be dancing round the room!

Aw , C'mon !

I haven't stopped ! Oh ! Did you notice the AERO-SKIN model planes ? Plastic frame and patterned material you cut out and glued to it for a fabric effect , Not too popular though .

I believe "alicetaylor" is probably SPAM and has been reported.

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!
