Scratchbuilds?
Posted by TheToyMaker on Sunday, May 06, 2018 7:12 PM

Hi, if you guys remember, I'm the new guy that showed up here today. I love scratchbuilding models, and I have scratchbuilt countless model naval ships and liners. Is scratchbuilding model cars viable? And are there any build threads or logs? Thanks.

I will say yes, scratchbilding a car is viable, depending upon your skill set.  For me to take a sheet of styrene and turning it into a reasonable facimile of a Ferrari would be laughable, although I have scratchbuilt a few simple racing chassises.  Yet I have seen members on this board and others who have that capability.  Of course most will take something already available and modify it considerably to become something else.  As far as build threads, right now my mind is completely blank, maybe some of the others  will chime in.

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!

Scratch-building as absolutely a viable way to make automive subjects.  This one is 100% scratch-built.

Here is the the thread of how I built it:
