Purchasing kits online
Posted by redalfalfa on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 2:57 PM

Hi all

Just starting out and wondering where the best and most reliable place is online (hobby stores, ebay, Amazon etc..) for purchasing kits.  I'm based in Australia and a long way from any major cities let alone Hobby Stores.

Thanks in advance

While I prefer to do business with my local hobby shop, I have ordered on-line from Model Roundup and also Spotlight Hobbies with great prices and service. And yes I would definately recommend them.

For you, Hobby Link Japan may be good, just a short swim north :) and they carry a wide variety of kits, supplies, accessories.

just put BMF on everything

G'day redalfa.  I'm in Sydney, and I have often used Frontline Hobbies in Newcastle. Have a look at  Cheers.

I am in the UK, we have only a few Hobby Shops to buy kits from. We have three outlets within 25 miles but they are essentially  warehouses that may open to the public on two or three Saturdays per year. There are a couple in London 70-80 miles away that are difficult to get to transport wise, and another on the coast 150 miles away. There are also a few in the north 150-200 miles away, that possibly take a day to get to.

So my kit buying is either through ebay or online, sometimes in the UK, Japan or the USA, but that is very expensive with the American customs costs (two or three times the price of the kits) plus import duty and postal charges this end. So 85% of my buying is on the internet in the UK.

Hi alfalfaalfa

I am in Canberra and all my modelling purchases are done thru ebay.  The few model shops in ACT are too expensive and if you search long enough on ebay you can find deals with free postage which is tops!  Delivery is often supa-quick too, I ordered Revell Impala 1958 from Chicago Ill., and decal solution from Perth WA, both on the same day, and the kit only took 1 day longer to come from the US! What the??  The only thing I don't buy online is the spray paint coz it can't be posted!

Never met a beer I didn't like!
