I believe the problem is the gap between the tip and the cap. It doesn't seal, letting air in, thus causing the glue to set up.

I used to have the same problem. I always use precision extender tips (Zap Flexi-Tips). I always had to snip the ends when they dried and was going through them fast.

Now I store my tips in 100% Acetone. and keep a couple in a small jar of acetone and the acetone disolves the CA without damaging the tips. When I want to use one, I pull it out with tweezers and set it on a paper towel for a few seconds for the acetone to evaporate.

Works wonders!

Truth be known, CA glue is CA glue is CA glue.  The only difference would be the particular viscosity, as the stuff comes all the way from almost water-thin, to a near gel consistency.

Acetone is the solvent for dissolving cured CA glue.
