I've been looking at old model car magazines recently and came on this by our own Treehugger Dave in the 1962 AMT Model Car Handbook. For those who don't know how long Dave has been building amazing model cars ...

This is about the time I built my first model car and have been hooked ever since, though not always active in it.  First model car? '62 Mercury Comet from AMT.  Next kit was AMT double Model T kit.  One T hot rod in 1/25 scale I think, and stock only T in 1/32 scale.  I learned a lot.

It was also the year of the last model contest I ever entered and won First in Custom class with a '40 Ford Sedan, but not near the quality of Daves work. A break and only NNL's after.

Mighty cool radical custom.  Article says "pink pearl", wonder where that came from?

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!

Pink pearl paint came from an older friends paint shop who built models. He mixed it for me.

Thanks for posting this Foxer - Mighty nice of you Thumbs Up.

For all of you older guy's boasting about your age I think it's cool that your still here and still building, BUT..............

...........I was born May 6th 1943 and started building in 1950. Yeah, I was 7 years old when I started thanks to my dad, and still going strong today. Shoot, I can still run at the gym on the treadmill, do push ups and curl two 35 pound dumbbells at the same time 12 times per set - 2 sets.

In 2020 I'll celebrate building for 70 years Thumbs Up. I think that's pretty cool Cool. I'm looking forward to it. Exciting stuff.

I love Mecum Auctions and Barrett/Jackson auctions and what would I do without Ebay.
