FantomWorks Corvette ID
Posted by smhardesty on Thursday, July 27, 2017 9:04 PM

At the beginning of the TV show FantomWorks there is a yellow Corvette shown briefly. I'm not a Vette fanatic, and usually not interested in them. However, there is something about that specific one that really catches my eye.

Can anybody tell me what year that Vette is? I would definitely consider adding a kit of that year to my stash for a future build. Any help appreciated.

If it is the yellow with black trim, I think it is a 58 but I am sure some expert on here will dispute that.

To Err is human, to blame it on someone else shows management potential.

Well, glooz "thinks" it's a '58, but Racer H seems a whole lot more confident. I'm going to go with the '59 ID. I have the FantomWorks 'Vette frozen on the recording on my TV and I'll locate some '59 photos to confirm it. Thanks to both you guys. I really thought it was in the '60 to '62 range, but like I said, I'm not a 'Vette fan.

...as stated earlier, 1958 Corvettes have twin chrome strips running down the trunk and a louvered hood

...it could be a 1959 or a 1960, they are virtually identical....stock seat stitching is the only way to easily tell the difference....there have been kits or 1959 and 1960 Corvettes over the years, should be easy to locate, either kit will work for you

...1961 and 1962 Corvettes have the same rear styling as the 1963-1967 Stingrays, but retained the dual headlamp look of the 1958-1960 models....I have owned a lot of Corvettes over the decades including a 1958, 1961 and a 1962

Hi Guys,

I just looked up on Yahoo Images and it said it is indeed a '59 Corvrtte. Revell did a very nicely detailed '59 Vette' based off their excellant ';58 and it should be easy to find and relatively inexpensive as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, guys! I found several ‘59 ‘Vettes for sale in different locations. I’m currently bidding on one. After I read your posts I took a look for ‘60 ‘Vettes and found them as abundant as the ‘59. I might even pick up one of each. I did an image search for both the ‘59 and the ‘60 and found a few different paint jobs that look really nice. I know I want to do one like the FantomWorks ‘Vette in yellow and black and I found a really good looking teal and white paint job and a super sharp copper and black paint job.

I got a '59 'Vette kit in the mail today. I posted it on the "What did you get today?" thread. I think I'll go ahead and try to find a good deal on a '60 now.
