Lindberg 32 Pickup Rod, Off ebay UK 2 for £11.50. One built/unpainted and one unbuilt in bags.

I'm going to try and paint the built one, whilst thinking how to further customise the other.

I stumbled across a garage sale in the neighborhood that had about 30 models. Models in the wrapper were $10 and without wrappers were $5.  So I picked up 5 kits that were all unwrapped and all were complete and unbuilt. A 56 Chevy Del Ray (I have built it before and its a great kit), 69 Dodge Charger Daytona, 66 Ford Galaxie, 72 Chevy Chevelle and a Daisy Jeep! So combined with 5 purchases at the last contest, that ranged between $10 and $15, I now have 10 models for less than $100. I think I spent about $85 total. I should be good for the rest of the year if I only build these kits! Thanks for looking! Cool

If you cannot have a good time, what kinda time can you have? JR

Next on the bench:  Another 1970 Hemi 'Cuda, 1958 Chevy Impala, 1987 Buick GNX, 1950 Chevy Pick-up, Indy Reynard, 1965 Corvette, probably not in this order.

So it looks that I might be busy on this build soon!

As I rather like the look of the CJ7 Jeep in the latest SAE Mag, I've been lucky to find one on ebay UK and at a very good price, to be delivered tomorrow...

A Monogram variety to build into this the SAE build up...

Hey Pat - I've got the Mercedes as well.  Looks like a nice kit, though little disappointed that it's a curbside.  And looks like there's lots to add to the body after paint!  Group build?  lol

Thanks,

John

Yes John both the standard road going and the racecar kits are curbside. Perhaps Mercedes didn't like people knowing any info on the engines, gearboxes and drivetrains!

I'm on Pinterest and saw this the other day...

A bit radical with the kit!

Someone tipped me off that a book was available on the art and design of Bill Campbell, the man who did the artwork for Hawk Weird-Oh Kits, that inspired the manufacturers to make those plastic kits...................

It's £25.99 here in the UK and $39.99 in the USA. There are 700 illustrations in this book. Some are of kits that are made and some that were too complex to make but the artwork is in there too.

Brilliant for those interested in Hawk kits. 192 pages all in colour.

Again from good old ebay UK a used Monogram '29 Ford Roadster Pickup, just a few bits missing to make a whole one (a frontwheel & tyre) but two running board frames/two chassis/two bonnets/hoods etc, so plenty to build at least one and a half as soon as I find another front wheel & tyre!

For no reason at all, I just bought a 67 Chevy Impala kit from Hobby Lobby for $19. I now have Buick, Pontiac and Chevy full size late 60's cars, I think JoHan made a Caddy Coupe DeVille, and there was a mid 60's Oldsmobile but think that turned into a "short track" stocker....

Supposedly moving house, yes! There are 10 buyers/houses in the chain and we now have 'lockdown' so no one allowed out! No groups more than 2 people but it's got to be that way to stop Covid19. All non essential shops closed only supermarkets and pharmacies allowed to be open! Most companies closed as no one to be less than 6 ft or 2 metres away. So factories, racing teams, etc closed, everyone to stay at home. We went out this morning to buy food for the next two days as we have fresh vegetables and fruit.

My biggest mistake was that I packed away all of my made models, kits and hardware as soon as our offer was accepted on the bungalow (downsizing).

It's so boring, sitting waiting to move but because of the virus nearly all businesses are closed, so no movers, estate agents etc!

We are over 70 so all of us over that age are expected to stay indoors for upwards of 4 months!

Thank god for decent deals on ebay, keeping me sane. But ebay is not what it used to be when sellers want £50 - £150 for so called 'RARE' kits!

I sold 2 pairs of mountain bike shorts and our post office is closed due to illness, so had to find another one open. But we've had no deliveries today at all from our local sorting office (separate from the walk in Post Office counter).

Anyway stay safe and avoid Covid 19. Let's just heed the warnings on TV from the people that know and use common sense.

The other day I went to the Ben Franklin aka B&F store and bought a Revell Snap together New Beetle model.

Took me a few minutes to put it all together.  The right side clear headlight broke in half but the rest of the car is perfect.
