Picked up a few Lindberg kits today at a local outlet store. I had no idea that they even had model kits and I was amazed at the price of the kits.

It was just a local store and not a chain, which is why I was so surprised that they actually had some models. I wish they would go out and get some nice Revell or AMT kits. If I can help you pick up a few of these, let me know.

Well, A couple good friends of mine and I got together today, and I was surprised with two models from the very top of my wish list for future projects! They say it's a consolation for getting laid off (lol) but I don't know haha.

I definitely am lucky to have friends like the ones I have :D Now, I need to figure out where to get some wire to wire up and plumb the motor and everything, like that Solar Direct car andybmw7272 from these forums built, and a couple or 5 sheets of carbon fiber, and I'll be good to go on the FXX ;)

Also, about a week and a half ago, I got an awesome eBay deal in the form of a $15 shipped Tamiya Ferrari 360 Modena. That one is in the near future for me as well!

Not putting miles on your Ferrari is like never touching your girlfriend so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

I just picked up the '77 Monte Carlo curbside. Thinking about making it full detail and backdating it to a '75.  Also picked up a Tamiya '66 Beetle. My first Tamiya I ever purchased for myself and it sure does look good. Still would like the Revell Beetle though.

A 1996 reissue of the MPC  Gang Busters 28" Lincoln at a out of the way hobby shop in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It has reproduced decals and instructions from the original mid sixties issue.

The show was in Burlington. A toy and collector show.

There is a website with show listings so google toy and collector shows in ontario.

The best ones for  model kits are Burlington, Woodstock and Kitchener.

for today-

Revell Baldwin Motion 1970 corvette.  From US cost US$ 5.28 or similar (AU $4.80 + US $17-20 combined shipping on this and following Chevelle-shipping not yet finalised). Cheaper than here, see below

Revell Streetburners 1970 Chevelle 3in1.  From US.  Cost US$9.00 (AU $8. something).  Shipping combined with above with this averaged so is still about $20 cheaper than I can but it here for

Within last  week (Very new to internet) have bought-

Revell 53/54 Chev sedans (x2) from Aust.  Cost AU417 50 each and are bought to make stretch limo to go with matching delivery (extended to hearse) in gothic horror style cemetary diorama.

Revell 41 Willys pickup From Aust.  Cost $17.50.  To be built as gasser style street rod using new 41 willys blowm hemi, 4 link rear etc

Revell 55 Chev (old 'Hot Rod' edition)  from Aust.  Cost $17.50.  To be built as pro street using 41 Willys 4-link rear and revell 68 vette blown big block

AMT 55 Chev Nomad.  From Aust.  Cost $15 (same seller as all above but less due to previous assembly of engine block.  To be cut up as roof section is wanted for delivery conversion on already ownedAMT 55 Chev 2 door sedan.

AMT 55 Chev Nomad.  This one from US.  Cost US$4.99 =$12.00 shipping.  Again to be cut up for roof section although this for Revell 'Black Widow" 57 chev 2 door.  Remains of these 2 then to be used as working out for tilt front/pro street chassis/int for 3rd (already owned) 55 Nomad

Items bought 1-2 weeks ago

Model King tilt front 57 Chev.  From Aust.  Cost $42 +$8.50 Delivery.  This is very rare over here so splurged again but even if common would be nearly as much

AMT 68 Camaro (old blue blown s.b version) From Aust.  Cost $17.50

Revell Rick Doberton's pontiac J2000.  From Aust.  Cost $17.50 This kit was bought for the twin turbo/magnagarger equiped engine and other parts to use in molding/casting only.  Won't ever be built.  All the above mentioned '$17.50' Kits came from a local seller that I found when the listing came up on google  while looking for real cars, and other than the Nomad generally has all AMT, Revell etc kits at $17.50 (good but expensive accident).

Revell 53/54 Chev Delivery.  From us.  This was expensive for me at US$24.99 + $19 postage but is favorite vehicle so splurged a bit on it.  This is to be extended to hearse, pro street chassis, blown 392 hemi, flames etc  in graveyard diorama with matching 53/54 limo mentioned above

Amt Eckler Corvette.  From US.  Cost US$4.99 + $11 postage and was buoght to be junked for flares/ headlights etc for  revell 68 roadster but will probably now go to 70 coupe bought today instead.

Revell 70s custom van  From Aust  Cost freom memory was about AU$50 including postage but kit is EXTREMELY rare here and have been after it for several years but could not even get it special order anywhere so cost not real important.

Added to this is a wide variety of resin/etched parts etc and its not a bad addition to my collection for a week or two.  Missus isn't as happy with it as me though!

AMT 55 chev nomad.  From US.  $4.99 + $12 shipping (about AU$15).  Not bad when to buy here can be around AU$38-40 in shops and was bought to use roof section for delivery conversion on old MPC tilt front 57

Monogram 39 Chev Delivery From Aust.  Cost AU$26.00+ $8.00 Delivery Like these cars and rare in Aust so splurged a bit more than normal.  Still cheaper than buying in shops (Have never seen to do so) for expected AU$40 approx

Newbie here.  Went to a store called Tuesday Morning.  It's an outlet store like Big Lots, kinda-sorta.  Just by chance, I went to the toy section.  I  found 4 kits marked down from $9.99 to $7.99.  I got AMT's Lil Mixer and the AMT Vintage Police Car.  They had another Lil Mixer and an AMT Jeep, but I passed on those.

Well, hope nobody minds me coming from sorta the other end expense-wise, but this has been a big year for grails -

like the complete set of these:

and this big bugger:

OH - and for those of you who might not have started strictly with cars, and might miss this guy, he's back this year:

- complete with his glow-in-the-dark eyes and teeth!

But perhaps of more immediate interest, here's what I got today:

Gotta say, initial processing and quality impressions are very nice on this one. That much better than a current Revell kit, so seductive and overwhelming as to prompt the infantile hysterics seen elsewhere when anyone points out a number of really obvious problems with it?

Well, no.  But there are some optional parts here that soften the blow a bit.  Rather than the luridly, ridiculously incorrect "stock" exhaust system, for example, there's an also-inaccurate-but-at-least-plausible dual exhaust, and a few other goods that go some way to covering up the pratfalls - long as you're not dead-set on factory stock, anyway.  And the design of the kit looks such that its buildability should be leagues ahead of the nightmare ergonomics in the '78 Monte Carlo that preceded it.

On the other hand - in another solar system, really - there's this:

and it's far and away the most impressive release we've seen from a domestic label in many a year.  It matches or exceeds the Trumpeter kit's overall quality, and most of it looks accurate, to boot - quite a difference by comparison.

There's etched metal mesh for the open grille, beautiful chrome, hundreds of crisp, clean, good-looking parts, and a comprehensive color instruction booklet.  Not since Galaxie's '46-'48 Chevrolets have we seen a freshman effort this promising - it bodes extremely well for the Hudson and Chrysler coming down the pike.

* Over 500,000 Rivets *

Yeah. That one.

Another acquisition to report, this time from a hobby shop in another city (went on a road trip, 4.5 hours away). Picked up an AMT 1933 Willys Coupe, Guldstrand Grand Sport 90 and a 1969 Chevelle. Also picked up a couple of tools I've been needing.

And if my wife found out what I paid just for those 2 kits...it would not be prettty!!Smile, Wink & Grin
