I stopped at my favorite local thrift store today and found a Viper RT kit for $6. The box had been opened but it looked complete. I walked around the store some more and found ANOTHER Viper kit, a GTS Coupe!!! Someone had stashed it in another part of the store under some junk. This one is sealed still in the plasticand was a dollar cheaper!! To put a little salt in whomevers wound,I put the opened box where they had the other stashed and am now the proud owner of a Revell GTS Coupe Smile, Wink & Grin

I just got home from work 20 mins ago to find I'm the winning bidder of a 1/24 junkyard on Evilbay. Yippee!!!!! What an awesome day!! The cheap Viper makes me feel a little better about what I spent on the parts box junk.

Every once in a while I stop at the local thrift store myself as they get models in from time to time. Most of the ones I've gotten from there haven't been the best, but today I stopped in and found a sealed one of these:

Never seen this kit before!

I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday to use my 40% off coupon and they had MPC's 1/16 General Lee. I had it in my hand and was looking everything else over when a teenager and his mom came over. They were checking things out and asking me a few ?'s about kits in general. Turns out they were buying him his first kit and he loves older muscle cars so I........... gave them my coupon and the General Lee. I gave him a few pointers, told him about our little "clubhouse" here and grabbed Revell's 32 Ford 3 in 1 kit that was on clearance. Hopefully I'll get to spy that General Lee on here someday. Thatwas a really sweet kit.

While out with the wife down in Stratford on Avon on Saturday, I popped into the model store and came away with the new Revell Audi R8 Spyder ( to go with my hardtop R8) and a re release of a Tamiya Toyota Celica 2000 GTR circa 1985. Spending nearly £40 was,nt that bad since I had bought the wife lunch and taken her clothes shopping!!

It was a few days back. Does that count?

I finally scored one of my holy-grail kits....the 1963 Aurora '34 Ford 5-window double kit. It's been partially adult-assembled and is 95% complete. I'm deciding whether to do an "out-of-the-box" restoration, or do something more radical.

The kit comes with a stock version, that hasn't been assembled, and a cycle-fendered, hood-less hot rod version. Unfortunately, the decals have been applied, and whether or not I can make duplicates will probably determine the little car's fate.

Plan your work, work your plan.

Ahhhhh.............. nice score today! A gentleman on Craigslist had a "Lot of RC truck and cars for sale or trade". Turns out he had a Traxxas Sledgehammer STILL NEW IN THE BOX, just needs brains. It's got the original manual, unpainted body, and decals. He had a pink 57 Bel Air that had been fitted to the Sledgehammer chassis. Theres also a carbon fiber chassis AWD car, un-known make, with 3 Lexan bodies.. 1 Toyota painted, 1 late model mustang painted but beat, and an unpainted 65 Mustang Fastback. There's also another 2wd car chassis thats been beat to hell and back, and a slew of parts. I'm now the proud owner of all this for the tune of an old used Ryobi 12" compound miter saw, a mini Home Depot hobby air compressor, a B&D jigsaw older than the Lord himself, and a cordless impact drill and a cordless circul;ar saw that have been collecting dust in my garage.

Stopped at Kmart today with the wifey for a few things. I left her to do her thing so I could check out the plastics section and IT WAS GONE!!!!!!!! The Zion,IL Kmart has removed it's kit section. However, I did find it relocated to the CLEARANCE AISLE!!!!!! So........... I picked up 2 Revelle 2008 Bullitt Mustang kits for 12.80 each and an Apache Helicopter for my cub scout. I left 2 Tijuana Taxis, 2 Corvettes, a Mustang Mach III, a Buick Grand National, and a Chevy SSR on the shelf. There was also a Snapfast Kenworth.................

Checked the mail tonight and my decals for the 86 Monte SS I'm building were in there, in a regular ol' envelope, unprotected. The S.O.B I bought these from for almost $7 is lucky they didn't get bent or wet.

Although it was last weekend, I was at the localIPMS show, and grabbed a few items from the vendor tables. Tamiya 1/12 Lotus Mk III(with mint JPS decals), 1/12 Ferrari 312T4, Monogram Packard Boattail Speedster($5.00!!), Beer Wagon Cherry Bomb, Street Fighter. All of these kits were mint inside with all partsstil in their bags. For accessories, a new can Tamiya Fine White primer, DetailMaster PE Wire Looms, Hood Pin kit,1 Seat Belt set, and a massive book titled The Complete Book of Gran Prix Racing 1894 - 1996. All of the kits and accessories for $125.00.

There was a Monogram Bugattie Type 35 that I inquired about with one guy, and it waskind of a junker, so he gave both that and a Fujimi Lambo that was started poorly, for free.

I like these vendor tables!

Rob

Build 'em if you got 'em! 1/12 Porsche 934 Yeagermeister;1/20 Lotus 72C, 1/24 Tamiya LaFerrari; 69 Camaro SS, 69 Camaro RS, Pocher 1/8 Rolls Royce Sedanca, Tom Daniel California Street Vette.
