SUPERNATURAL ?
Posted by Metalbender on Saturday, August 8, 2020 10:55 AM

Well, it is Black!

That said I dunno. I like the idea it is a four door without all the bells and whistles. A true base model Impala four door! On the outside that is. Inside it is Niiice. I just love that well detaiiled,  although a little rough on the bottom edge dashboard! Oh! And that decal set for the dash? Cool! Plus the clear piece that overlays the instruments. Don't forget. Use white glue to put it on .Okay?

So far on mine I have been correcting like crazy. Oh! didja know that if you look carefully at one of the trees you can just barely make out ERTL under the scrubby plastic blob on top? It's in the center of the sprue the dash is on.

Now, the interior bottom and frame fit together like they were intended to. I haven't glued anything yet! I have been, like I said correcting stuff. If you compare it to the bright yellow( On the Box)  2dr.version that was sold first at Hobby-Town you'll see some differences between certain parts of the car.

The hood looks like it was made as an afterthought. None of the contours on the hood on the real machine are this sharp or flat. Either add an .010 strip on both sides or .020 on one or the other side of the hood to make it fit better. Sand down the edge at the front to get rid of the flat look. You may have to sand about half the length of the hood to correct this. This also concerns the inner fender edge.

Now as per most car kits the post for the vent window is to thick so we know what to do there ? Right? After that then you are free to do what I have done. No P.E. Door handles for me. I drilled holes in the existing ones and using a real one as a pattern shaped those little plastic bumps till they were not only open where your hand goes, but they were the right shape.

Model cars are a blast especially if you grew up on a tight budget. I figure it will take me about four months for this beauty. Oh! for those of you who think you can just buff and wax the body Fuggedaboudit !!

They must have done something to the surface of the mold. Like not polish out the machine marks. Soooo-You have a pattern of what I call "graining" running in different directions on the body surface. ( A result of machining and not polishing afterwards).

This will REQUIRE either surface polishing to get the "graining" out or a good coat of priming medium. Your choice on brands here! The interior is good, But, if you want the Air-Conditioned version sometimes seen on the show with the Automatic, you will have to use the parts from the two door kit.

Yeah, the bloopers got picked up real early by car nuts. Moreso, than, say the " General Lee" of T.V.Fame. All that said I will say this. It's nice to have a four door G.M. product of any badge out there. Now, Where's my four door Buick, Deuce and a Quarter?

Also missing any body scripts. No power steering pump, nor a/c compressor. I don't like the wheels either.

Not every full size car came with power steering and ac. Wheels are no big deal. Easily replaced. Whine whine. And script decals are available from Speeday decals for a reasonable cost.

Funny thing, I had a full-sized '69 Chev a few years back. It never had P/S, and the A/C was about 80lbs of useless so that got yanked within a week of having the car.

Yep. I drove many full sized 60's cars with no power steering. We didn't own a car with ac until I got my  82  Mercury LN7. We had no ac equipped cars when we were kids.

My folks didn't have either PS or AC in a vehicle until their 77 Chevy pickup, and then only because GM would not let my Dad order a 454 with no power accesories and my Mom talked him into AC since the truck was black.  (They wouldn't let him have a Muncie M22 and posi either. Apparently they felt that a shortbox 2wd shouldn't be equipped like a Chevelle.)
