A copy of the new annual Contest Cars issue was floating around our club meeting today and I got to get a glimpse of it. It looks great so be sure to pick up a copy at your LHS or call Scale Auto and have them send you one. I'll be watching my mailbox for my issue.

I ordered my issue of Contest Cars and renewed my subscription while I was at it.  Looking forward to the new issue!

Got mine a week or so ago. I liked the larger photos, and I liked the fact that I didn't notice any duplicates of the same car from different shows (in previous editions, there always seemed to be four or five or six of these). Looked like there were far fewer misidentifications as to model manufacturer and/or model year. I really appreciated the reduction in the inane/worthless "I just love..." or "I've always loved..." comments--I think there were only four or five in the whole book. In previous editions, there would sometimes be that many in the captions for one contest! Also, I don't think I saw the cliche "Fun build!". So, all that's good.

The one thing I HATED this year was the lines running from detail/insert pictures of models to the main model photo. These are unnecessary and do nothing but ruin the main photo. Please don't do that anymore! (I've seen it in the mag, too. I also hate it there. Stop it!)

So, overall, the 2019 Contest book is very good and greatly improved. Stop with those stupid, ugly, awful lines between photos and next year could be just about perfect. Wink

It's a good issue, I enjoyed it. I'm digging the revised format, but don't care for the photos that cross the spine of the magazine (photo exists on two adjacent pages). It ruins the image, makes it hard to appreciate the overall view, look, or stance of the build.

Otherwise, well done!

Richard....thanks for putting my exact thoughts in words.  The photo captions this year were far more informative to the reader, and avoided the trite and heavily overused "love" wording, thank goodness.  My recollection is that this improvement started with last year's Contest annual, but it certainly took hold throughout in this year's edition.
