Images from the 2019 DAAM Contest with Builders Identified
Posted by Tim Boyd on Sunday, March 31, 2019 3:00 PM

The Detroit Area Auto Modelers (DAAM) conducted their Spring 2019 show on March 31 at the Macomb Community College Campus north of Detroit.

In photographing these models, the image following each model includes the builder's name, to the best of my ability to photograph it.

I have to say, i was tremendously impressed by a number of the models that turned out for the show this year. Not to mention a great collection of work from Vern Heizer of Ohio.

Additional highlights included the latest from Dave Metzner and Moebius, including several versions of the 1965-66 F-100 series and a new spread axle flatbed trailer project. And a fascinating display of artifacts from Tim Rice who worked in the AMT Corporation Model Shop - including several heretofore unknown AMT projects that were well into the development process before being cancelled.

A photographer on behalf of Scale Auto was shooting images, so studio shots of the show may turn up at a later date.  In the meantime, check out this link for the whole story via 200 table shots....and thanks to the DAAM management team and all the model contest participatns for an excellent show. TIM

Shown of my show favorites....a first generation Valiant done full street from the desk of Vern Heizer..

Thanks for providing the link to the Detroit contest photos!  There's a lot of inspiration to be had in those images.  It was a wonderful gesture to include the modeler's (artist's) name for each entry.  It a wonderfully diverse hobby...from low riders to pro stock to semi-cattle trucks to rusted tractors.  'Love it all!

Sincere thanks as always, Tim, for your quality coverage of this obviously great event! The drag cars, in particular, show such incredible detail. Also some cool paint jobs on the custom cars. Something for everyone, as usual. I continue to be inspired.  Thumbs Up
