1968 Chevelle Surprise!
Posted by modelcarjr on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 12:22 PM

I thought I would post this here instead of in "What did you get new today" since that thread is a bit lengthy and hard to pull up at times.

I was in my local Hobby Lobby today to get some paint. Since the paint is locked up nowadays, while I was waiting for someone with a key I noticed that there was an empty slot on the shelve and the label said 68 Chevelle. So I asked the service person while he opened the case if there were any in the back and he said no but they would be getting a truck in tomorrow.

So he gave me the paint and I walked back to the clearance section like a normally do to check to see if there are any models marked down and low and behold what I found:

Two kits marked down from $29.99 to $7.49 a 75% savings! I hope its not due to a problem with these particular lot #s. Has anyone heard of any defects in the original batches of these kits? I hope today is my lucky day!

Next on the bench:  Another 1970 Hemi 'Cuda, 1958 Chevy Impala, 1987 Buick GNX, 1950 Chevy Pick-up, Indy Reynard, 1965 Corvette, probably not in this order.

The kit is one of Revells best ever. No idea why Hobby Lobby's have it on clearance, the stores here have never carried it at all.

RUN you fool! Run back and grab as many as you can. I'm not a Chevy guy but that's an awesome deal.

We're supposed to be getting a HL here this fall. They will know me well, yes they will.

My favorite color is clear. I am also ambidexterous, I can screw up equally well with either hand. I am 53 years old and been building for most of that time. :)

On the bench... somewhere. Pink Panther show car, 1978 Dodge Magnum Charger Daytona Midnight edition SE 300. Mongrel T.

They did these surprise sales last year in my state of Arkansas. Picked up 3 Porsche 914's. Big smile here!

Thanks, All! I'm not sure why this one was marked down, probably a mistake. But I got the only two that were marked down. I may go back later today to see if the truck brought more in. If so, I may use a coupon if they are regular price and get another one! Cool
