Spot on observation Rick. Let us know what you find out about that magazine.

Rick,  I think that Model Car Builder is a subscription only magazine for US consumption only. They have a website. Maybe some of their subscribers looking at this thread could advise on how it is doing?

Someone mentioned that the next MCM is supposed to be a contest issue. Not much editing there just putting a lot of photos up I would guess. Be interested to see when (or if) it will materialise.

After he got issue 205 printed and mailed, Gregg himself stated that 206 was going to be a Contest Issue. That was quite a while ago however, so don't hold your breath.

Kind of wonder who will be getting it.  Will it go to the subscribers who have been waiting for 1 1/2 years for another issue, or will it be a special issue offered such as SAE does their contest issues and require it to be bought separately?

The magazine is over.It was never reliable and all you subscribers are well, screwed.

Gregg has been "publishing" since the 90's, he knows how it works.

Fact is he has taken money and not delivered at all. He won't even take the time to email his subscribers, Dave Ambrose does it. This just fraud.People are ver naive about this, some claim he's a victim.Same thing with Art Andersen. Please guys. REAL WORLD ON LINE 2!

Wake up.

Dragger, who is Art Anderson? Not seen that name with regard to MCM. Is he a sub editor for Gregg Hutchings or something?

Art Anderson is a well known name in the car modeling community. I'm not sure what his exact bio is, but he's very knowledgeable about model car history. Unfortunatly a number of months back he was arested for child porn. No one had a clue he was involved.

It seems to me Art Anderson was the originator of the Kat from AMT and some other concepts for AMT.

Yeah, that does sound better.  Guess my 70 year old brain cells are beginning to fade.  Thanks for that correction.

Guys, thanks for the replies putting me straight about Art Anderson. No doubt he is well known to the USA car modelling fraternity, but as a UK modeller I had never heard of him and thought in all innocence that he was one of Gregg Hutchings associates. Guess I inadvertantly opened a can of worms by asking who he was.

I looked at the MCM forum today and noticed that yet another thread asking about how the magazine was doing was locked down after only two or three responses. It would appear that the moderators are getting a bit over sensitive over there even when any reasonable question about the progress of the magazine gets asked.

No can of worms opened at all. As far as Hutchings, at the very least he has committed mail fraud. Collecting subscription money and delivering nothing.

Can you provide some sort of court docs to back up your claim? I don’t necessarily agree that things like that should be posted in the open without substantial proof and it sort of makes me feel like I need to lock this thread as it’s going off the rails. This thread about an entire other magazine gets more attention than any other topic on this forum . Not trying to be post nazi , just want things on topic .

What would you call taking money from people for a subscription and not delivering it?

For the record, I completely agree with Lee on this. Gregg has not delivered and needs to be held accountable.

It would appear that any reasonable questions lately about MCM on their forum get locked. Just quite recently 3 posters asking things like how is it faring and when will the next edition be available unfortunately got this treatment.

I don't now what is going on over there right now, and gather that life subscriptions have been offered at the GSL show. If the deliveries are still going yet further out, I guess that the current annual subscribers must be getting more and more frustrated. My guess is that they will in all probability not bother to renew, further contributing to MCM's cash flow problems. Other than a very well established publisher buying out the title and reorganising the magazine from top to bottom from editing, printing and distribution I fear for its future if things carry on as they are.

I will also be sticking with Scale Auto. Model Cars got worse & worse over the last issues - it's simply not worth-it anymore (not to mention the fact that I'm still owed issues - I don't like getting ripped-off!).....
