The forum is kinda quiet
Posted by smhardesty on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 1:33 PM

I'm guessing a lot of us are in preparation mode for the 4th of July weekend. Things have been kinda quiet on here this week. My wife's family will all be here for an all day get together. Her family is strung out all over the United States, and I mean strung out. We’ll have family in from Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky Missouri, Kansas, Louisiana, and maybe a couple of States I forgot. Her family was always pretty close so any time a large number of them can get in one spot they go out of the way to make it work. I hope I’ll be having one of my better days so I can enjoy things instead of sitting like a rock and being grumpy all day.

So, how about you guys? Big plans, or more of a quiet, peaceful holiday?

Sounds like you have quite a weekend ahead. i'm (for the most part) going to stay close to the house, fire up the smoker & do some cooking, that kind of thing. i am, however looking forward to going to my friend/fellow moose lodge member's house for a visit. his mom is coming in from germany to visit for a month & said she's going to teach me how to cook a few german meals (can't wait for that). after the smoke clears, i think i'll get back to work on the hotrod and try to get something accomplished. hope you're feeling better.

wife has decided that the railing on the front porch needs replacing. 8 pressure treated 2 x 4's and 32 spindles have kept the sander and I kinda busy this week. When i'm not running the sander it's the mower. Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th.

I'll be personally engaged in a LOT of nothing. I can't really go out and celebrate or go anywhere. Turns out, model kits are getting expensive!  Wink

My favorite color is clear.

I really wish that I was going to be doing what you guys have planned. Can't say no to the in-laws, but even fixing a porch railing would be preferable, let alone a quiet day over the smoker or a day of doing nothing. You know how that goes, I'm sure.

With the recent thunderstorms here in Arizona come WILDFIRES!!!

The wife and I have spent the last few days watching the Saddle MT. fire advance with the wind and I suspect this is what we will be doing through the 4th.

It's about 10 miles away but with the right wind conditions it could be here tommorrow.

Dont worry.... my emergency bag is full of paint and a few easy kits to build if we have to bug out.

Dont worry about the thumb print.... paint it rust and call it battle damage

[/quote]Well, you have to have your priorities. :) Is there room left in the car for the wife? seriously though, I'm hoping for you that you stay safe and cinder free! Wildfires are no joke and you're very right about them changing direction and or speed in a heartbeat! Stay safe.

Hope you all have a good and safe 4th as well. I'm building away at the bench in place of spending time on the forums as well as being pretty busy like the rest of you with projects around the house and summer events that usually take up a lot of time and energy. Hope to be around a little more within the next couple of weeks after I finish my current build..................that's taking like..........FOREVER!! lol

I'm very pleased to say that the only day I don't build is Christmas Day, as we have half the family round for dinner and tea. The other half are in Canada.

We had 6 fires around us my step daughter got stuck in Malibu. Due to overturned big rig on pch and fire . and I'm on a brief roll cabin fever or? I feel the need to have a hot rod built and completed by me for me not for someone else or getting paid meager wages to do it for somone else or selling cause I'm despa4ate to survive and it's 3/4 done and they had to have it.worse than me

I've only ever completed 4 cars 2 semis 6 bikes for myself in 53 years of life my 29 roadster was the last at 32 when is the right time to decide when sometimes life decides for you am I to old or late to enjoy depends on health now then money bills first of course. But I missed the normal reti4ement life we dreamed of some where 180k a year to zero in 6mnths 7yrs later I'm recovering monetarily barely getting through payday and yet every day some part of modeling always comes in play I e paint de5aios v8s8t the board or just surf hobby sites hell I spend hrs on micromark n harbor freight fascinated I can finally get the hobbyroom I dreamt of as a kid the likes of model car world SAE MODELCARS MAG MODELCAR JOURNAL. I 7SED TO DROOL OVER THE BATTLE DAMAGE TIP FOR A hotknife now I. Reminice at how much and how often this miniscule hobby has influenced or been in my life since my very first one the red I think reveal plastic wheeled Indy racer and an avocado green roaring vette or opel gt? 1/32 I was hooked at matchbox thanks to all in the hobby biz sorry I sidetracked but this was a genuine memory moment this thread tr8gge4edx omg it's 301 am n8te beer n bed

The wife & I have been spending a very quiet day at home.

After the whirlwind of selling & buying a home & moving over the past month, quiet is just what we need.

Got a taste of family & fire works last night at a relatives lake home, so tonight it's the air conditioned comfort of the family room in front of the television.

I've seen fire works before! Big Smile
