Search function still doesn't seem to be fixed.
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 9:57 PM
When I go to my profile and ask for all archived topics etc. it comes back with four pages. However, when I go to click on the next page - or any other page for that matter - I get an error which states something about "No Search Criteria entered".

I know this issue was brought up at least once in the last few months and the response was that it was going to be fixed "Soon".

So what's the status, since it is obviously not fixed. Is there an ECD (that's Estimated Completion Date for all not familiar with corporate speak!)

Thanks for the info!

I don't know that the word 'soon' was ever used. I know the phrase 'hopefully sooner than later' was used, but as long as we're being corporate, that's what's known as hedging. We know there's an issue with the search function and we'd love to have it fixed immediately, but as was said previously it's not exactly at the top of the list of priorities and will be fixed when our IS/IT folks can get to it. We are one of many sites here at Kalmbach and resources are simply being allocated elsewhere at this time.

Sorry again that this is not the answer you're looking for, but it's an honest assessment of the situation.

Thanks, Rich, for bringing this up again; and thanks, Michael, for responding right away. I keep finding myself facing this problem and keep hoping to find it fixed, but I'm a patient man....

It is just good to know that "the man" is aware of the problem and it is on the agenda for repair sooner rather than later (though I wonder what could be lower priority in the Great Kalmbach Scheme of Being).

On the plus side of this issue I have found that quick searches...instead of advanced or any other type of search seem to work ok, this at least allows you to search within a single area of the forum, like builders corner or dioramas...Smile,Wink, & Grin
I am Howard, Jack of all trades,Master of none...current projects: Diorama-->60's gas station, Post WWIII PerriPeekaboo...See my stuff here: http://public.fotki.com/notlezah/ Simple rules. Have you read them? http://www.scaleautomag.com/sca/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7502

Mike,

Thanks for the quick response! I was only looking for the truth and appreciate that it was given.

I'm glad it hasn't been forgotten...if I'm hoping for anyhting it would be that the priority were bumped a bit - but I understand allocation of resources etc.

Thanks again for the quick turn around.

I think Snitz would be the people to ask. I posted something about it in their community forums. Here it is if you want to check it out:

I've encountered the same problem. I've found from trial and error that if you go back to search while on the first page of the archives and reenter your name, you should be able to get to the rest of the archives. Won't say it works everytime, but I've been able to go back to the beginning this way.
