Glossary of Modeling/Forum Terms
Posted by PackerGreg on Thursday, December 22, 2011 9:24 PM

Hello All,

I have been perusing the forum for about a month or so as I prepare to tackle my first model kit in decades. I appreciate the progressive build threads and the Q&A, from which I have been picking up tips and terms, but I still feel lost. For instance, it took me weeks to figure out that WIP means Work In Progress. And there are abbreviations and slang for materials that do not render positive results in a search engine. I am savvy to real cars (pardon me, 1:1 cars) but there's a lot going on here to which I am not up to speed. I know we can ask specific questions as they arise, but I (and undoubtedly others out there like me) would find a glossary, however informal,  most inviting. Perhaps it might simply accumulate here on this thread.

Thanks, Greg

Greg, look under the How to & Models tab at the top of the page. Tips & Tech, How To might be helpful.

If there's something or a term/s you need clairification on, post your inquiry in Builders Corner. This end of the Forum doesn't get much traffic. Practically everyone on here will help any way they can so don't struggle over what you don't understand.

I don't think anyone here was born with 20 + yrs. experience.

Hey Greg....Jeep makes a good point  that no one started with 20 years experience. Remember, there is no dumb question...only a dumb answer.

Check  The Finescale guys have something like that.

Rosco: "My, my. What a horrendous crash. Another one of my vehicle's scuffed."

On the drawing board:  '68 Caddy Deville

On the bench: Monogram USS Voyager NCC-74656 Whistling

Completed recently: '68 Dart GTS
