I think they should be earned, not based on post count...

How would you propose they be earned? Out of Curiousity?

Based on the amount of contribution to the boards - number of visits, number of posts, how long you've been a member, etc...

HEY,
You could do that only we really only meet on the net and one person may have a different opinion about another persons personality. I like the way it is done now. We do need names that relate to cars though. I can only think of a name for beginners, how about Factory Stock? Cant think of anything else though. Sorry.

i know i'm just starting in this whole thing in scale auto, but i think that they should be somehting like Factory Stock, Street Rod, Pro Street, and Pro and it should be based on ability and/or skill level.

How about something that is not subjective?
Using 'street rod' only takes into consideration the people into that, but I have no interest in having a title like 'street rod' below my name since I am not into them.
Using engine sizes and turbo'ed or super'ed isn't the way either in my opinion (you do realise they are the same thing only the method of driving the induction impeller is different?)

Whatever system is adopted, it has to be applicable to ALL members and not just the modellers of a specific interest.

hey admin, anyone moving on this? i see littlemoe has a new star and the title just does not match 3 stars. how 'bout just using what they do over at the fine scale forums. those seem to be non-subjective? we have a few mwmbers now posting quit a bit , so maybe now is the time to make the switch?Banged HeadConfusedConfused

I like FSM's names. I think we should use them. I think that the rank titles should not be measured from posts, but from the amount of information you have inputted, the nmber of visits to the site, number of posts, etc. Mark Smile

Shouldn't this be about models not about how many stars you can accumulate or what tag goes with those stars.

The exchange of quality info should be the priority in my opinion.

i think both of you are right, this is about modeling and helping each other out, but its also a fun place to be, and i think thats all the stars are really meant to be , just for fun. how could you really measure ones input otherwise?ConfusedConfused

HEY,
I like the FSM names, they are non subjective, and they are better than average modler and such.

Couldn't agree more. Titles, number of stars, etc. should be non-issues.

How about:
Junker! (parts car only!)
Four-door sedan (plain jane grocery getter...mom or dad's car...nothing special)
Two-door coupe (now your talkin')
Hot rod (flame on!)
All-time Classic! (fully restored Masterpiece...or in this case a Master...as in master model builder)

Feel free to ignore this or take what ya like!

some people are more touchy then others.......

there are forums for exchanging tips and ideas etc, and there is a forum for off topics, just to talk about stuff!!!!

i can't see why people are getting upset about silly stars and names!!!...........

i can't agree more, the names would be nice if they were different but does it affect your skills or what you do on the fourms? i'm sure it doesn't. it shouldn't matter what the names are. THERE JUST NAMES!!!!! the point is that they don'tsay racial remarks or anything that sould hurt anyone so it shouldn't metter what they are. i hope more of you would agree.

is it just me or do we all seem to get hung up on all the little things. i would rather hear about model makers, flaws ways around them, what you did to spite them, ...anything other than the things that seem to blur the big picture.
