Interesting question, 195X, considering that the Dukes' Charger roof photos are routinely censored.
There are also numerous historical Formula 1 cars sponsored by 'no-nos', like Marlboro-McLaren MP4s, JPS-Lotus 79, Camel Lotus 99, and sports cars such as Rothmans-Porsche 956, not to mention all the Martini sponsorship in sports cars, F1, and rallying . Kits produced in recent years (maybe since around 2000?) don't have the politically-incorrect but historically-correct logos and markings, but older kits do, and the aftermarket makes them available as well.
So, do we build an authentic historic race car model, or a sanitised 'sort of' version? Yes, an interesting topic. Cheers
Steve
wait , so if I post a general lee here , I cant post a pic of the roof ??? Can you point me to the specific rule ? I can't imagine a tobacco or alcohol related build would be an issue .... We're all adults here ...
The rule in regards to the General Lee Charger is an unwritten rule that was created when someone had complained about the Confederate flag on the roof. I believe that Jim Haught may have come up with that rule, but I am not 100% sure. I haven't seen any General Lees on the forum lately, besides, I seen enough of them to suit me for several lifetimes.
I hate to tell you guys, but we are NOT all adults here! We have youngsters visiting this site as well as adults. There are rules in regards to language, posting pictures, and the type of links we can post, too. For a while, kit manufacturers were replacing tobacco and alcohol decals with a more generaic name to limit exposure of tobacco and alcohol products to those under the age of consent. Adults have been asking where they could find the specific name decals for their NASCAR builds.
It may be hard for some people to understand, but while many adults post on this forum, there may be youngsters looking and posting on here as well. I think we all need a return to "common sense" and be very mindful of what we say and what we post on here. Do you know how old that person you are responding to in a post is? How "politically correct" is that person? Just remember, until you get to know that person, that person is a big unknown to you.
Remember that old saying, engage brain before putting mouth in gear? The same applys to posting and texting!
