'09 Contest Annual
Posted by doktor bondo on Monday, November 9, 2009 12:53 PM

As always, I really enjoyed the '09 Contest annual, but I do need to get two little rants off my chest.

One, it seems a lot of the kits were misidentified. A Revell kit was called out as an AMT, or an AMT kit was identified as a Revell. I'm no expert on what manufacturer kitted what, but if a bonehead like me notices, I can't see how an entire magazine staff missed it!Sign - Oops

This wasn't as bad as the fact that a few of the pictures were 'cut off', where the model was a bit off-center in the photo and a wheel or part of the grille was chopped off in the image. There's a photography guide in the back of the Annual, you know!Tongue

These are minor gripes, I know, but I just had to vent! Now everybody, let's not take this too seriously. People make mistakes, and we are all here to have fun. Last time I checked.

Ah, I feel lots better now! Back to drooling over all the builds in the '09 annual!

We rely primarily on the information provided by the builders -- who make mistakes sometimes too. And with 500+ images in there, there are bound to be some "errors." We have neither the time nor the staff to cross-check (or commit to memory) which company made each kit, or other build details.

As to image cropping, that's a subjective judgment. It could have been how the image was provided to us, or an Art staff judgment. And I support their judgment 100 percent.

Jim-

Thanks for clearing it up! Like I said, minor nits, not really enough to kill my enjoyment of the issue!

Just wanted to see if everybody was awake!Laugh
