mysterious messages.........
Posted by choptop1 on Thursday, August 27, 2009 11:40 PM

When I post a comment or write a complement to a topic here it will send a copy to my e-mail. I go to my e-mail ,to my personal e-mail my family and I use, only to see mysterious messages there. I seem to be getting other peoples comments and complements sent to my e-mail. Does anyone know what is causing this. The subjet matter is only about topics we talk about on the forum here.

Please insearch on a simple answer.....................

Yes Zacheriah there is indeed a simple answer.  You either checked the 'email notification' box when you posted (or overlooked unchecking it) or you have the 'email notification' marked 'YES' in your preferences.  This simply means that if you allow email notification, and then post, you will receive any and all subsequent posts via email.  This is helpful if you have posted a question (that could be important to you) and you want to find out more immediately if someone has replied to your inquiry.  On the other hand, I agree that it can be distracting, especially if someone hijacks the thread and a flurry of posts ensue.  If you don't want to be bothered by all of the subsequent emails, just make sure that you uncheck the 'email notification' box when you post.  And then make sure that your board preferences indicate NO email notification.

 I hope that this helps.

Best regards,  Steve
