What's your thoughts on this?

Hi, this may have been suggested before. It would be cool to have a section of the forum called "Buy/Sell" for models. Scale Auto would be a vehicle for this. The potential buyer could see what's available on the website and contact the seller directly. The seller would supply the manufacturer, model #, general description, the condition of, asking price, and contact information. No pictures. Valid for 30 days only. This certainly would increase traffic at Scale Auto I would think and maybe it's membership. What do you think SA? Tom

Too much liability. If a deal goes bad, SA/Kalmbach will get drug down in the legal process.

Could this not be done with a Disclaimer?

We are only talking about model car kits.

Even if it is only model kits, the liability can be great.  That is why you see many other model websites and pages without a buy/sell section.  Plus, it would be a section that would require maintenance by an administrator and the editor and his assistant have very little time to look in on the site constantly.  Many people in the past have be ripped off even with free trading with unscrupulous people.  Even today, a disclaimer might not be useful in our litigious society.  Model kits or not, this is still a difficult subject to control.

I say no to this.

Yeah, I'm afraid I agree with Mike. I would love for this to be possible, but it would end up infinitely messy. There is no shortage of precedent to support this, and I'm sure SA would wish to avoid it. And as Mike pointed out, it would require a vigilant, full time moderator, which would quickly turn out to be a money losing prospect for Kalmbach.
