Other sites related to scale modelling that I'm on ( Vintage Drag Models & Coffn Corner) have a "thingy" (not the technical tern obviously .) where people add a photo of a car or in some cases old photos .... It could.... get slightly silly & Un P.C.in some cases , so I guess to avoid hassle ..... Keep the pics Relevant & "child friendly" eh ?? I second the motion BTW !

So , powers that be ..... Can we have some avatars of our own choosing ? It's a simple click on your site host to allow this minor change .....

I'm just a lot balder , a little darker and a few years older than the guy on the profile pic . I'd post a little more myself if there was some free expression .... I'd gladly swap images in sigs for real avatars ...

In an era where facebook, pinterest and other model mags see a great deal of action, it appears that the powers that be do not have a great interest in improving the site here to gain more members/contributors and even vendors. There is a lot of talent on this board among those who are still here. While they do promote subscribing to the mag....I am sure if they would grow the site and boards they may find new subscribers and contributors and vendors. From a vendors point of view they want the widest possible audience to justify the costs of advertising...call me crazy...avatars do not seem to cause any problem elsewhere that I am aware of.

I agree that perhaps allowing a bit of expression with avatars might actually help Membership and participation on the forums . It seems a bit childish to me to be forced to use these pre loaded avatars , but pics the size of a house are allowed in sigs. Certainly doesn't lend itself to a high quality experience . I wish someone in power would at least reply , I know they read these ...

Mmmm it was actually quite a bit more complicated than that.

But you all should have the ability to have an avatar now. You're welcome!
