Spammers
Posted by mrmike on Friday, October 27, 2017 9:33 AM

The spammers are still posting on the Scale Auto website and something needs to be done!  I know there are no moderators and the editor and his assistant don't have the time to visit the forum like they should.  A change in the sign up process would go a long way to making this forum safer from spammers.

In the last several years, they generally post in Muscle Cars, all three sections of General Discussion, and Community Announcements. They post something that is akin to broken English and leave a link in their posting.  Sometimes they pull up an old thread that is 5 or more years old and post in that.  They don't start a new thread, just post on existing threads.  They'll post 2-3 times and then they are never heard from again.  I would like to suggest a change to the sign-up procedure might help in preventing spammers from signing up.

It hasn't even been 24 hour's and there's already a "MASSIVE" spam attack in the  Welcome introduce yourself forum!

Just give me their E- mail and maybe I can waste their time filling up their in-box with pointless memo's on how to remove un-wanted eyebrow hair.

Previously I had used the official "report" link for the spam posts. Nothing whatsoever was done, it's as if the report function goes to nowhere. So I gave up. I did send an email once, but somebody needs to actually receive the reports we send in, otherwise it seems like nobody but the spammers are running the show.

Thank you for pointing these out, we've got a lot going on and I don't have the time to go through the entire forum, multiple times a day, all day. Are you clicking the actual reporting button? Because I'm not seeing anything come through the Moderate section on my account.

Yes, I reported several cases using the report link, and nothing ever happened. Is it possible that the report notices are going to (the now retired) Jim, therefore not getting to anyone?

I have also clicked on the reporting button on all the spam posts I listed above.

In the meantime, I hope you dont mind us having some fun with a few of these "Spammer's"........ ( It's our only defense.)

I have clicked on the small yellow triangle in the lower left hand corner of the post.  It could be bigger, if it works at all.  I know that there are issues with some aspects of the forum not working or maybe you don't have access to the reporting function.  But at any rate, I am doing my part reporting them if I see them.  But, even I don't venture to all sections of the forum.

So, are you seeing these yet? In the last two days I, and I'm certain several other forum members as well, have reported each instance of a new attack. If the reporting feature is actually non-functional, please let us know so we can stop wasting our time.

There seems to be a lot of spamming activity from ankit12121.  This forum is under attack from spammers and something needs to be done!  Admin or moderators, I realize you have a magazine to put together, but please do something about the spammers!

I have an "ODD" sinking sensation that we are on our own.

Had any of us behaved like this we would have been banned and all traces of our posts would have been deleated.
