Sketchpad that is. I miss seeing these creative drawings.

Ratings for Sketchpad had been in decline for some time before we decided to end it. It was by far the most expensive part of the magazine to produce, and it has been more cost-effective to run "Finish Line" instead. Our surveys have shown that considerably more people read, and like, this arrangement.

That explains it, thanks Jim

Hey Jim,

I am also a fan of the sketchbook series. Would it maybe be possible to just do a four-page spread in one particular month instead of every issue. Alternatively, maybe you could include a sketchpad section in the annual? Just suggestions. Hate to lose it altogether.

Sorry, I don't see that happening. When you put the expense of that page together with consistently low ratings compared to other departments, and the fact that more people read "Finish Line," the way to go is pretty clear-cut.

Thanks Jim for answering. I was afraid you would say that but you understand I had to give it a shot.

I understand that the original question concerned bringing "sketchpad" back to the magazine, but is there any reason why a Sketchpad and Ideas feature can't be added here on the Forum?  It would have the advantage of being interactive with participants asking for ideas about specific projects rather than what appears in the magazine.  It would also have the possible advantage of having more than one artist responding to a project from different perspectives.  I suppose it's just as easy to upload a sketch as it is a model photo.  I, for one, would be a willing participant.  In the meantime, anyone interested in submitting concept ideas may contact me directly on Facebook at "Sidor Art and Design".

By the way, I dearly loved the talent and creativity of Brad Leisure and enjoyed following his "Sketchpad" column.

Maybe you could start a sketchpad section for everyone to post in!

I would enjoy seeing a sketchpad forum. Since I have a hard time drawing stick figures, i would not be contributing, but I would check out the category.

That's a great idea of a "sketchpad" forum. Personally, please don't hate, I would rather see those pages go to actual models or tech articles. But a sketchpad forum would really be cool to check out with all the different styles going on.

By the way, Finish Line is awesome, always a good choice of models to check out.
