TV/Movie Car VI CBP 'Modeler Salvation' Ended 02/01/2011
Posted by mrmike on Sunday, August 22, 2010 11:36 AM

We are back for another sequel in the TV/Movie Car franchise, "Modeler Salvation."  Production starts on September 1, 2010 and will conclude on February 1, 2011.  If you have any questions regarding your role, feel free to ask here or email me.  As Executive Producer and Director, I will also have a role in this production, too.  This is the first part of the production AKA the casting call or auditions!

The Rules

  1. Model must represent a vehicle from a TV show, movie, or video that is accessible through normal channels.  Please announce your role when you audition.  No what-ifs!
  2. Model must be unstarted or to be rebuilt from a disassembled model.
  3. Any scale except 1:1.
  4. Can be plastic, resin, or modified die-cast.
  5. Use aftermarket parts and accessories if desired.
  6. This is a 5 month production.

FYI

If you have never participated in one of my TV/Movie Car CBPs before, I run this like a like a TV or movie production.  Please be ready to start when the Director calls for ACTION and have your role completed when the Director calls THAT'S A WRAP!   The future of this franchise depends upon the success of this production.  I am depending upon all actors to work together as a team!

Auditions begin immediately!

Here's my audition roll of recent projects:

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

The Real Ghostbusters

Dick Tracy

For this role, I'd like to build Nick Mancuso's 1965 Corvette from the mid-1980s TV series Stingray.  A few other '80s rides may make cameo appearances if all goes well, but the Vette will be my main focus.

Well Mr. Director, I'm ready for this role. You can call Bond. James Bond.

I've been saving this car just for this role,I hope the director will allow me to fill it.

Spencer and Dvdicvs, I approve of your auditions and your roles.  Welcome to TV/MC VI!  Please be ready on September 1st when production starts.  Your Director is jumping into the deep end with his own role.  I will be doing Spenser's '67 Mustang GT from the TV movie, Spenser: A Savage Place.

I will be rebuilding this AMT '67 Mustang GT that I built oh so many years ago and has since then gathered much dust.

I will be ready when I call ACTION!

 ALL RIGHT! We're back!

If it's okay with you MrMike I'll be doing a Jim Rockford Firebird from the 'Rockford Files',

pics to follow.

 One of these:

Just need to decide which of the many 1974 - 1977 Firebird Esprits that Jim drove and wrecked to build

starting with a '77 MPC kit bought as part of an eBay lot of Pontiacs.

Got the idea to build Jim's Pontiac when I saw this one...

I know it looks like it's almost finished already (hope that's ok and I don't need to start with a mint original kit?) but all this will be stripped.

Got to lose the T-top, the Trans Am vent, lose the snowflake wheels and do a bit more research!

What do you think?

Mike, I approve of your audition and your role.  If you look at my role, it's more complete than your is, but it will be blown completely apart and rebuilt.  Welcome to "Modeler Salvation!"

Cycolac, I'm looking forward to seeing how your Firebird turns out; I'm about 80% through with a '77 conversion and it has been fighting me most of the way.

MrMike, did you build Spenser's '66 yet?  I haven't been able to figure out if it was dark green or dark blue...

Spencer, yes I did build Spenser's '66 Mustang.  I painted mine Testors Racing Green Metallic with Keystone mags and Firestone tires from MRC.  No clearcoat, just a little polishing to bring out some gloss, yet leave it looking a little rough as the 1:1 did in the series.  This model represents Spenser's Mustang from the 3rd season.

Thanks MrMike!

That sounds ominous... Big Smile I'm factoring in an aftermarket resin front end to build a '76 model, although it might all get junked and I'll stick with the '77 annual kit. Who knows?

Pics to follow when I can figure out which box I put 'em in Laugh

I would like to join this and build the yellow 57 Chevy from the 1980 movie Hollywood Knights. The car is better know as Project X from the Popular Hot Rodding magazine.

351gt

I love that build mrmike.  Spenser for hire was a great show.  All you need now is a replica of the pos Spenser drove in the first and second season that led up to the 87 Mustang GT he drove for a short time in the 3 rd season that he traded for the car you built your replica off of.

Thanks 351gt!  I wanted to make the first season Mustang from Spenser For Hire, but I wasn't able to find a suitable set of wheels for it.  The wheel and tire set from MRC presented an opportunity for me to create the 3rd season car.  I did make a replica of the '87 Mustang GT that Spenser drove for part of the second season.  Unfortunately, it did not come out as well as the '66 Mustang since that kit fought me all the way to completion.

Kevin, you audition and role has been approved!  Welcome to "Modeler Salvation!"

Mr Director,

For my audition I'd like to present myself for the role of the greatest racecar movie of all time.

I'll be using a Fujimi 917 kit, but I doubt I'll get into any aftermaket addons this time. I'll post a pic of the kit, once I find it. It's decided to go on vaction for some rest before its audition.

Great idea on this theme MrMike, I love it, and the "roleplay" attitude that comes with it.

David, your audition and role has been approved!  Welcome to "Modeler Salvation!"  BTW, I have to disagree with you on the greatest race car movie of all time...that movie is "Grand Prix" starring James Garner.  And, I'm sure there are others out there who have their opinions on the greatest race car movie of all time so I'm sure that we can agree to disagree on this! Big Smile

The Casting Call continues.....

Mike, Le Mans, definately wasnt a "great" movie at all, poor dialogue, vague story line, but being as I'm a huge road racing fan, for me, Le Mans is the greatest race, hence a movie about it, no matter how bad makes it the "greatest".  But yes, Grand Prix, was a much better film, on film merits....hell, even Days of Thunder is a better movie then Le Mans,

Hello mrmike, and everyone else.

I don't usually build chevies, but I would like to build the '62 Impala, Queen Latifa drove in the film "Set It Off" for my role.

David, don't get me wrong.  I thought "LeMans" was a good movie, I enjoyed it when I saw it when it came out to the theaters oh so many years ago.  As far as "Days Of Thunder" is concerned, I see some issues with that film.  After a race, all the cars look like they where driven through a mud bog!  I know they do get dirty on the track, but come on!  They don't get THAT dirty! A TV/Movie Car CBP wouldn't be true without the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee.

For my request role I would like to the Green General Lee in the Episode called,

"Southern Comfurts."  For a back up I'd like to do Daisy's Jeep.  It will be the one

with the doors on and the "golden eagle" on the hood and "Dixie" on the doors.

Only the Jeep won't have the bow on it

Mercury Flathead and Brother, your auditions and roles have been approved.  I would like to take a moment and remind you of the forum rule in regards to the Confederate flag, it is not to be shown.  I would prefer that you take your pictures low to avoid showing the top of the roof.  Thanks.

Rick, it is unfortunate that you have started already.  Rule #2 states that the model must be unstarted or to be rebuilt from a disassembled model.  I will allow your role this time, but understand that this is unfair for the others who are waiting to start on September 1st. and you are so far ahead.  Next time, please read the rules before joining.
