4th Generation F-body ('93-'02 Firebirds/Camaros) CBP (not too late for more entrants!!!)
Posted by Todd on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 6:42 PM

Its been awhile and I've got time to invest into this hobby now. I'll be getting two Camaros and a Formula in the mail soon(I'm not sure how many I'll build for this CBP), and I was wondering if anybody else wants to build some 4th gens. I love the body style and the way they look, especially with some tasteful mods :)

Rules are:

You can only build the following models: 93-02 Firebirds, Formulas, Trans Ams, Camaros, RS's, SS's, Z-28's (you get the picture...)

You can scratchbuild any parts to add or kitbash with any other kit.

No limit on entries.

Theres no deadline right now, but that can be discussed.

Let me know what the enthusiasm level is on something like this.

I'm working on a project in the "Cannonball" CBP right now, but I have a load of those T/As and Camaros just begging "BUILD ME"!!! I'd be interested.

Sweet. Good to have ya. My kits came in the mail today. I'm gonna put an LS1 and some other custom touches to a make '93 TA (Snap Tight, ugh) more believable.

Picked up some 19" Pegasus T's today at Hobby Town USA. They're gonna look sweet on the '93, though I know not where I'm going with this yet.

Looking good so far, Todd. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to put in yet, but I hopefully will decide soon.

Sorry if I'm rushin. I got alot of modeling juices flowin. It'd be great to have you, V SPEC. We need to get more people in here!

I got alittle more work done on the '02 turbo project. I'm gonna run stock exhaust manifolds to the turbo, to an intercooler that I have yet to source, to the intake manifold. I'm thinking about painting the car silver?

The black '93 hasn't seen much attention lately. It's still getting the LS1 and chrome T's.

Todd, I have an idea for the black Trans am. If you have an AMT '96 gran sport 'vette, it's engine would look mighty hot in the '93 - or better yet... THE ALLMIGHTY DHOC LT5 from AMT's '90-95 ZR1 kits, but it takes alot of work to get it to fit with the engine mounts. I did that on my '93 camaro snap and it took alllllllllot of work and trimming of the engine, but it was worth it in the long run. You mentioned the black T/A started out as a snap kit, I think I know which one that is- It's the early Revell Snap Tite kit that has the basic engine and rear suspension with the red car on the box on a green background right? I know that because I have this one and the camaro in this from too (with black car on box) To replace the very-very crappy rear suspension on yer 'Bird (and on the Camaro too), swap out the rear suspension unit from the Monogram release kit or the Revell 25th annversary kit and slap it on 'er. The Monogram is the one with the blue car on box and the Revell 25th ann. version is a white car w/blue stripe. They both have the better engine and such. Revell's later '98-02 Camaros 'n' birds have the same rear suspension units as the glue '93 kits, so if you have one to part with, that's good too. When I get pics up and sort out the dammed photobucket, I gots lotz to show! I have a former snap '93 T/A in red that I stuffed a '95 supra motor in it's throat and threw on some other goodies; a '94 built like the 25th ann. car, but in blue w/ white stripe, '02 ZO6 wheels, and a mild custom engine with a K&N air intake; gots a '93 red Camaro (former snap) with '07 ZO6 wheels and the ZR1 motor I mentioned before; and a '98 TA done up like a Knight Rider phantom. Hope to get em on here soon. BTW, I need help very badly with pics, I'm have serious trouble with photobucket - I can't get my pics on the the're dammed site! does anyone else have this problem? I can probably figure out how to get the pics from photobucket onto here, but from my camera onto photobucket, IT'S DRIVING ME FRIGGIN CRAZY!!! Please help me. One more question. How many pics can you have on you're photo album with the standard package? TNX all,

I'm stickin to the LS1 for the '93(yeah, its the same one you're thinking of), it's got a few custom touches as you'll see soon. I know it's kinda incorrect, but alot of people today are throwing in the LS1's into the older LT1 cars.

The LT1 from one of my Camaro kits is going into the '02 turbo build. Another swap-around ;)

Your builds sound interesting. Sorry about you photobucket troubles. I'm using my cell phone to take photos at the moment, its working quite well. At the Upload Images and Videos tab, select mobile uploads then email the pics from your phone, if that'll work for ya. Just trying to help. I havent uploaded photos from my digital camera in a while.

Here's some pics:

TNX Todd for your help, might try that. Does my cell phone require internet to sent emails to a website like eg. photobucket, or do I send them through text messages? (bare with me, i'm not good with advanced technical stuff) Just a question. Is this CBP open to finished projects (like my builds) or is it for WIPs only

One more question. I signed up on photobucket recently and I have the standard package, but the they say you can only upload pics with the pro package. Do I have to get the pro package to upload pics or I can do it on the base package? Is there any other way to upload pics onto here? Wthout a dammed photo site thats a real pain to register, and trying avoid there gimmick crap they try to sell you! BTW, what photobucket package do you have?

Forget what I said before. I finally figured the whole photobucket thing out! Got the pics on to the site, the problem was my internet. Before It was acting very, very screwy, we got IE8 and it's much better. Now the photos upload fast and quick with no problems. Now I need to upload them from the site on to here and you'll be seeing my work very soon!

Allright. Got the pics finally up on here. This one started out as the snap kit; stuffed in the supra motor and did other mods to make it different. Enjoy!

Some Lindberg 1/20th Camaros 'n' Birds and a Firehawk a fellow club member gave me. The black Firehawk I built speicaly for the clubbie as a token of my appreciation for him giving them to me.

Glad you figured out pictures!!! Those are really cool, btw. I especially like the Camaro! Very tasteful mods. I was thinking we would either build new kits or rebuild old builds differently for this CBP...

I've got a dilemna. I can't decide how to build the car for the engine.I can't decide what to make the car (currently blue) 02 look like. Should it have race slicks and a roll bar, street tires and a sportscar stance with custom rims, factory everything, or what? I'm just asking for ideas really, I need some inspiration.

if it has a turbo lt1 in an '02 how about some mega slicks in the back and small ones up front, with a roll bar, nitrous and the whole street dragster theme going on.

Most of these are recent builds, so does that count.

No, sorry. It's gotta be a fresh build. Can be started but no more then 25% complete.
I like the blue Trans Am the best cause it's modern with a classic twist.
