Dodge Charger buildoff *RESULTS*
Posted by 69bronzeT5 on Friday, January 9, 2009 2:40 PM

Since the 2nd Generation Charger buildoff just ended. I've decided to start a Dodge Charger buildoff. That includes cars from 1966-1974, 2006-2009 and everything in between. If you have a Charger, build it!

The buildoff will end on July 4, 2009. That gives everyone around 6 months to build. Models must be under 15% built to enter. Amount of entries are unlimited. Judging will be done by the members of this site by poll.

Models can be plastic or diecast. 1/24 or 1/25th only.

 Here are the categories:

1) 1966-1967

-freddy_64- '67 Charger "Sport Coupe" concept car

2) 1968-1970

-sublimegreen- '68 Charger R/T

-olskoolrodder- '69 Charger R/T

-Bigblkmopar- '70 Charger R/T

-gphkkh- '69 Charger "Phantom" Cop car

-gphkkh- '69 Charger

3) 1971-1974

-slantasaurus- '71 Charger

-offroadrunner- '71 Charger

4) 2006-2009

-Drackopolis- '06 Charger Daytona R/T

-209anthonyf- '09 Charger Superbee

5) Everything in between

6) TV show & Movie

-69bronzeT5- '68 Charger R/T

7) Diecast

8) Aero (Daytona & 500)

-Bigblkmopar- '69 Charger Daytona

-pitrow2- '69 Charger 500

-66dragfreak- '69 Charger Daytona

So let's get building!

I'm in on this one for sure. I'm doing a '69 now for the TV/Movie Car Community Build Project, and it's progressing pretty well so I can join this one without adding any pressure to myself.

For this build i'll do a replica of my daily driver. I've got an '08 Charger Daytona R/T in Hemi Orange and an '06 Daytona R/T kit (Testors) that I was planning to build next anyway.

I've shot some paint on some parts but that's it, nothing has been glued together so it's less than 1% complete.

So, Count me in, I love all things Charger, lol.

Oh, sorry about that, What I meant is that i'm going to use the '06 Testors kit to model my 1:1 '08 Daytona. I'll only be doing one build there just isn't a kit for the '08 Charger.

Sorry I wasn't clearer in my post. :)

I'm working on a Charger right now, but it's for the Cannonball 09 CBP. I don't know if you want to see the same Charger in 2 different CBP's.

Both of you guys are entered! I have no problems with cars being in 2 different buildoffs.

Olskool, it sounds like your car is more than 15% done BUT...I'd like to get as many cars in this as I can so you're entered.

OK, if you don't mind me posting here. The story behind my build can be found in the Cannonball 09 CBP, I don't want to repeat all of it but if you have questions just ask. I can't say how this photo slipped out, but here is a spy shot of what will be powering my 71 Charger 500 build........

Your probably correct on the Green 69 R/T & the Daytona but the 70 R/T is only painted... haven't even found an engine for it yet...... but of course.... that's why I'm asking... if none are good I have a back-up plan..

I'm in with a '69 Charger Daytona.  The only progress I've made so far is gluing the rear valence on the body as well as the fender scoops and I assembled the rear wing.  the engine and transmission nhalves are assembled as well.  Other than that, it's all still on the sprues. I'll post pics later today or this evening.

Here are the first pics of what I've done so far to this car.  Not much really, just alot of prepping and some subassembly gluing...

Hey, 69bronze can I enter too?

I have in the plans a stock 2009 charger super bee from revell's new kit.

I'll let you know  when I get it from ebay, so it is unbuilt completely.

Well, the body made it into paint but the silver came out rotten. I'm probably going to have to send the body to the strip tank to start over. For whatever reason I have psheyes on the body so I know the chances of sanding the silver down and reshooting the paint successfully will be slim to none. I'll let y'all know how things go as I progress today...

I think I was able to save the paint on the Daytona afterall. With a little bit of sanding and buffing and reshoot, the fisheyes have disappeared completely. The silver really sparkles on this car and I can't wait to see it with gloss and polished out.  I'm curious though as to whether the rear stripe was as glossy as the paint on the body or if it was more of a vinyl decals. Can anyone provide some insight on this?
