Conv CBP.. Finish date EXTENDED to Dec 10th 2009!!
Posted by Bigblkmopar on Monday, May 26, 2008 11:24 PM

Third prize added!!!!!!! JULY 11TH 2008!!!!!!!

Ok guys... I may be nuts but .... I've added a another kit.......... !!!!!!  Since it's a Convertible build-off I thought I'd add a convertible so.................. ya right...... your going to have to look through to see what it is.....and WHO get's it.......... I've posted a picture with the other two kits!!!!!

Ok guys, I'm new to this so here goes. I've given this a bit of thought and wanted to include everyone from the Big three to the tuner guys.....what do you think of a Convertible build off? I'm thinking everything from stock to custom to radical. Just because the factory didn't build it dosen't mean WE can't. This build would be open to ALL years of veh as well as ALL makes and models.

I'd go with any 1/24 or 1/25 scale kit..... you must show a starting picture. Also, you must show progress along the way (pictures). The build will end on DECEMBER 10th 2009 ! Since I'm involved in no less than 6 build-offs now lets see what we can do.

I'll need 5 judges  (I think we'll go with the POLL option on this one!!) and unlike the other build-off's the winner gets two UN-built kits I have here. The first is a Pink Custom VW kit and the second is a Monogram AAR Cuda kit, both are open and complete!!!!

 Anyone interested????

 Bryan (bigblkmopar)

P.S.... I'll enter but........... but only for show!

***NOTE**** I'm hoping by extending the finish date for this build so hopefully it will attract more enteries. I'm thinking on keeping with the theme...so since it's build a convertible for summer... let's set the finish date for Dec 10th 2009 !!! This will give everyone more time and a project to build in those COLD winter months!!!!!

Well, if Matts in I'm not lol.  I remember the rod build off, he trounced us.  This is an awsome idea, really has the potential to get a lot of people involved.  When the time comes I would be willing to judge for you, too many projects to start another.  Great Idea, hope it takes off.    Jeff

WOW! I really thought this build would get alot more action. I'd like to see at least 10 people enter but it's really starting off slow... hopefully it will pick up....

Hey, Sublime.. I'd say go with the Cuda Rag...... Also, White-Boy.... a 59 Impala would be cool.... just confirm that's the one and I'll add you in. I thought this would be a good build as we could include everyone.

Ok, a bit of info for all (Mopar guys may know this already). In 1970 there were only two, yes TWO 1970 Coronet Convertibles built!!! Both were Coronet 500's.... NO R/T's!!! Both 500 were sold new in Canada, one was a factory 383 car and met it's demise in Western Canada and the fender tag still exists to prove it existed. The second car, a 318 car with black bench seat interior and white roof is still in the original owners hands and I've been trying to buy it for going on 7 years now!!! I will post pic's of the 1:1 car and then pic's of my build.

Second post... here's my model. I removed the roof and painted it in FM3 as is the 1:1 car. It's clear coated and now I'll need to find a bench seat and something close to factory hubcaps (spokes).

OK, got you guys registered.... but where's everyone at??????????????? I would think that alot of people would be intested in building a RAG-TOP...it's open to EVERYONE so, dig out an old kit (or new one) and remove the roof!!! Let's see some interesting cars... classic's.... tuners....american muscle or ??? What ya got?? Hoot, I'm even offering up two kits with an added surprise to the winner..... I'd like to see at least ten enteries (builders) not including myself.

Excellent choice Cole.... I'll add you in. I'm sure you're aware that the "Dayclona" group in the USA (They've built the 1971 Daytona  1:1 among others) have also built a 1971 GTX Rag-Top in 1:1 Scale... if not I'll scan and send you off the article....
