2015 CBP's
Posted by Daddy_O on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 4:25 PM

Hi, All.  Are there any new CBP's planned for 2015?  It's hard to tell what's a current/open CBP.  Thanks.

I'm sure there will be some being posted soon. I would like to join a new build for the year, I said "like too!" But with a busy schedule may not be able too!...Joe

I don't think I'd be jjoining but I looked back through a couple older CPB's and the idea seems awesome, would love to follow one.

Personally I like the idea of a beginning and end to them.

If there's none running, why not start  your own?

some suggestions

  • Estate/Station-wagons/shooting-brakes
  • Bring-it...Race-it (build a car you'd want to race)
  • Fast Pickups
  • My Own Car
  • Your Dream Showcar

Personally I like the idea of a beginning and end to them.

the 'rules' (suggestions?) are that all cbp have a start and finish date. it's a good idea, as it gets everyone on the same page at the beginning and gives motivation to get it finished and not let it languish along for a year or more.

@Aussiemuscle308 - "Bring-it...Race-it (build a car you'd want to race)"

I like this idea, especially since the car we'd like to race might not just be different in terms of type of car, but also type of racing. You might get drag cars, rally cars, circuit racing cars intended for road courses, oval course cars, ect; not to mention cars from all the different variations on non-sanctioned street racing.

Shooting brakes is a good category too, although I'm not sure I've got the confidence to try to tackle one.

My 'first' adult build is still sitting pretty stagnant.

Yeah, bring it race it sounds cool, as does fast pickups.  I actually had to look up "shooting brake" because I'd never heard the term before!  Still don't quite know what kind of car that is, seems to me to be like the Nomad.  I'd be interested to see what the masses wanted!

Basically it's like a Grand Touring car meets a wagon. A two-door wagon with no luxury or sporting pretensions wouldn't count (Vega wagon, for example), a four-door wagon based on a sports sedan would fit some people's definitions (I'd argue otherwise though, turning a Jaguar or BMW sedan into a wagon doesn't make it a shooting brake by my definition).

The Nomad concept cars all 100% count. The production 55-57 Nomads are debatable. Once they became 4 doors they didn't count. A Ferrari FF would certainly count, so would the Firebird wagon concepts and the Volvo 1800ES.

They were often custom built, so it's hard to give more examples without tracking down specific custom builds.
