Interesting, Walt! You go ahead and do that one. Mine will be a bit different. And I'm not even going to try to make it a replica of any particular real car, just something in the spirit of the times.

but, you can run with it! Should be a fun build as anything goes. Everyone had their own ideas of what "might" work back then!

I have a '63 split-window Corvette body from a box of scrap and spare parts I picked up somewhere. It's pristine (never even been painted) except for someone glued in the windows with about a half a tube of glue. I tried to pry them out and got the rear loose but the windshield is so heavily "welded" to the cowl that they are married for life. I successfully polished the excess glue OFF of the lower edge of the windshield, but of course it is still fogged internally where the glue used to be.

I hate to waste anything so I am thinking of turning it into a funny car of the 1966-67 timeframe, which would be "altered legal." Engine would be in the dashboard area and I can then paint a black "frame" around the fogged area of the glass in the style of the day. Hope I can find room inside for the driver, haha. Chassis will possibly be modified from a Double Dragster--either the Fiat frame or maybe the "slingshot" frame with several modifications.

Any ideas/comments?

I've got to have a go at an Altered Wheelbase car - thanks for the build up, and I'll be back for the reference

The basic body work is not that difficult but sometime shortening the chassis can be a pain.

Interesting! My go-to engine on projects like that is the early Hemi. Between Double Dragster kits and AMT Parts Packs, I've got several of them sitting around.

I like to use early Hemis too. I tried one but the exhaust would not clear the cross member. I could not remove the cross member because it mounts the front axle. Real cars are so much easier to work on. Ever try to use a cutting torch on styrene?Smile, Wink & Grin

I decided not to use the kit supplied Y-block in my '57 Ford. Just not enough time to make the fuel injection set-up that I wanted. So what did I replace it with? How about a 413 Mopar!

First time dealing with a poseable figure. It makes for a lot of work trying to get all of his parts in the right places! The real hard part should be wrapping him in a harness!

WF, I'd have raised an eyebrow at your Ford a month ago, but at the site with all the great photos, there's one of a Ford not unlike what you're doing...and at least a couple of Tri-Five Chevies, too. Drive on!

The inspiration for my project is an actual C/A race car from the west coast.
