Everyone's builds look GREAT. I finally got time to get pics and finish up my 65 wagon. Not the best effort I've ever built, but I had a lot of fit and paint issues on this one. Here are a few pics of the 65 and some with the Monaco. Thanks for looking, Dave.

I finally got around to finishing the Mustang today.  It started out as a good build, but I ran into problems with the paint so I'm not entirely happy with how it turned out.  Here's a link to the slideshow:  www.youtube.com/watch

I see em, they all look great. I too have been unable to get much progress made, but I have been keeping up with the group build. I did get my resin body in, painted, and wound up destroying it. That's another story. I contacted Modelhaus, they were able to re-send me another body I 4 days, The new body is now almost complete, I'm at final assembly stage right now. Pics to follow soon.

Everyones builds look AWESOME !

Here's a progress photo after about a month of being off the grid.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/explorer2770/Models/Dodge%20patrol%20cars/IMG_5064a_zps70547c22.jpg

As you can see, the Monaco is nearing completion.  This shows the Monaco in a test fit which has some issues.  I had added a screen guard behind the driver but it keeps hitting the glass tub so that is being removed to get the floor pan to sit correctly.  Just needs a few final pieces, including a whip antenna once I find the wire I've been looking for, and then final assembly sometime next week.

The Charger has been painted, polished, and waxed and will get decals once assembled.  I'm taking my time with the engine and chassis details, although I have finished assembly of the interior tub.  I'm debating keeping this one box stock, but the dashboard is begging for a radar setup from a '97 CV and a shotgun or AR-15 mounted to the ceiling.

The Econoline isn't in the contest, nor is a Ford Expedition that I'm also getting painted, but all 4 vehicles will be marked for the Sandusky County (Ohio) Sheriff's Office using period correct markings.  The funny thing is, SCSO never used any of these body types.

Over the weekend, I managed to get the interior started:

interior was basecoated with Tamiya Field Blue and then hit with ACRYL gloss coat

afterwards, the floor was painted with PS Grimy black and semi-gloss black cargo tie downs

I picked up Revell's new (1:25) FORD EXPEDITION POLICE SSV kit last week. Here's a quick run down on what's in the kit:

  • same kit from 1997, with different chrome wheels
  • new chrome grill w/molded in grill lights Sad
  • lightbar is from the 2004 Chevy Impala cruiser kit Sad
  • new sprue containing: 2 gear bags, 2 prisoner partitions, pushbar w/siren speaker(?), (mediocre) laptop, and camera (or radar?)
  • smoked rear windows and clear windshield
  • The "decals" are the usual SnapTite stickers- if you get the kit, toss them and get some after-market decals or print your own
  • sprues molded in black, clear, smoke, chrome and clear red (see below)

I am building this as a Columbus PD special duty unit in (what if) black & white. Whistling

Here's the box art

Here are the sprues

Looking good Tony. I'll be standing by for those pics. I'm still in limbo waiting for my resin body to come in from Modelhaus. I hope it comes in soon. In the mean time, I've been pondering an idea for my dad a 'retro' style build. I've already built him a 65 Biscayne wagon, so why not build him a 'modern ' version. I have  Dodge Magnum  sitting in my stock pile, so I thought why not do it up with the old school markings and lights. So be looking for those pics to show up soon.

Well....I guess as long as it has a department/jurisdiction name and it says "POLICE" on it, it'll be accepable.  My wife told me those mech's from Bandai would look cool as a SWAT unit. Tongue Tied

After thinking about it....she may be right! Surprise

Hi I have a question for pyrman. Does the vehicle have to be true to a particular police area/or can we build a 'fantasy' police vehicle? Any type of vehicle / markings / colours anywhere in the Universe?

I had yesterday off work, and it ended up being rainy so I got started on the car.  Clipped all the parts and sanded down the lines, separated by color.  I took a few pictures with my digital camera, but didn't have the memory card in, so I didn't get those.  I picked up a small airbrush a couple weeks ago, so I shot all the parts that way.

Thanks Dave.  I have to build and rebuild some other kits before I can even think of building another Police car.  I don't have anything in my stash that I can use for a police car.  Wait, I just remembered that I have the Duster convoy chaser I think it's called.  It will have to wait though.  Dan

That looks GREAT Dan. Glad to see you made the 'can' lights right, with yellow to the rear. I built one years ago and put red on both sides. You have time for another one, how 'bout it.

That's looking GREAT Dan. Are you going to use the kit LAPD decals or an after market decal. Good luck on your sleep issues. I have a friend struggling with that right now as well.
