I don't see why not, now that you ask.  That'll give me a chance to use some of my OCP (Robocop) decals from JBOT!  JBOT also has decals for the following TV shows:

  • EMERGENCY!
  • 240-Robert
  • Dukes of Hazzard (4 different cruisers)

Well, I got started on my 95 Chevy Blazer.  It's a gift for a friend of mine who was a security chief for the large property developer, he was with the residential communities division.  Here's a few pics.....

the seats and console (interior is primer grey)

the interior floor pan and side walls

the chassis under construction, on the sprue- the flash was quite noticeable on some sprues

the chrome wheels, after dull coating

the incomplete V6 Vortec engine - I should of used Humbrol metal cote flat aluminum on the tranny

Quick quiz, guys.  Rick Hunter's unmarked Plymouth (ex-Gotham/Joker), Mustang Mach III phantom State Patrol, or '57 Fairlane County Sheriff 'Moonshine Chaser'? {I will keep the ballots in a mayonnaise jar on Funk & Wagnall's front porch.  LOL}

Apparently, Testors has discontinued the "Primer Grey" color in their "Custom lacquer system" line - the Blazer is on hold until I finda  suitable replacement.   First they killed the fabric red and fabric black, now primer grey - how the heck am I supposed to finish a model?!

I don't have the resin body in hand yet, Modelhaus say's 4 to 6 weeks, it's been 1 so far. I DO HAVE the donor kit in hand, so I can start with that. MAY I COME TO THE PARTY ? PLEASE.

GREAT. Thanks for having me. Big Smile

Here are a couple shots of my progress on the 65. I'm starting with the engine. Most of it is done , just needs more paint detail work.  Thanks for looking, Dave.

Guys, thanks for letting me join in.  I'm going to be using these builds to test a new-to-me decal technique. The plan is to paint the car white, apply decals made on clear decal paper, mask the decals with liquid mask, then paint the top coat.  It sorta worked out well on the Monaco until I started to take off the liquid mask from the door seals.  Some of the decal paper pulled off around the sheriff's name, which required me to layer another decal on top.  This is either due to too thin a layer of liquid mask, or, the curve of the door around the trim line didn't allow for a smooth adherence of the decal to the body so it lifted off with the liquid mask.  Oh well, I figured this would take some time to learn how to do this technique so I'll just have to give it a try on another body type.

Anyway, here's the progress as of today on the Monaco.  This is being done up as a 1978 Sandusky County (OH) Sheriff's cruiser.  This will either get the light bar from the Cop Out Dragster once I I need them in my stash or a big flattop gumball light from the old CMW police car kits.

I do need to fix a little over spray on the door pillars...need to remember to put more BMF further up the pillars when I mask this car body type in the future.

Enjoy the photos.

Just ordered the Revell 1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 (2 'n 1)  Highway Patrol kit.  The upcoming weekend looks rainy, so hopefully I will make some progress.

That looks great Brandon. So you think this idea is going to be the way to go with those door stars?I was pondering the thought of maybe using a black sharpie further around the star outline BEFORE I cut it from the paper?? It might bleed though?? Looking good.

Kinda sucks that we are not closer so we could snap a few pics of mine and your together.

You two are in Ohio, right?  Why don't the three of us meet at the Central Ohio Fire Muster next Saturday (6/22....it's at the State Fire Academy in Columbus?

Dave, I need to test this a little more before I start using this technique for every build.  I also noticed that when I used Dupli-color Protective Clear Coat Finish seals the decals better than what I was using before.  I'll keep you posted on this.

Greg, while I appreciate the invite, I'm going to the Dayton International Air Show next weekend with my family.  I grew up in Ohio, but right now I live in Eastern Kentucky for a job.  Dave and I always go to the Cincinnati Auto Replicas "Cincinnati Challenge" contest every year in April, maybe we can meet there next year?  If you've be to BlizzardCon over the past five years (I wasn't there this year), we have probably met in passing.
