I'm with you man. I know they were underpowered, but they had looks. Way better and closer to the original in design and concept than the 79-93 ones.

Both MPC and AMT did "stock" Mustang II " Sportsroof (3 door fastback" kits in 1974 and these were updated thru the 1974-78 life of the "Duece".

Both were modified to produce kits that the manufacturers thought would sell better. Look on eBay for stock versions. I have both and both have flaws and strong points...

The four banger may have been a bit doggy, but my parents had a 1974 Ghia with a 2800cc V-6 four speed that would smoke the tires half way down the street. I got my first speeding ticket in that car, and my first,.... uh,....... well, you know! [:0] I also had my first 'off-road excursion' that resulted in hitting a sign sideways at about 60 MPH.
You can find the hatchback on eBay, and there is a rare 1/16 coupe that comes around every once in a while, but it's expensive.

MojoDoctor...

I drove "Muskrat 2's" exclusivly from intro until 1978...I was a Ford Dealer then and liked smaller cars. Melted the Firestone BR70-13 radials off a couple of 'em..

Had a 1976 Cobra II in White ith Blue, a late '76 Black/gold Cobra II and a dark blue "King Cobra" T-Roof as well. Brought my oldest son (getting married on 1-3-4) ome from the hospital in Cobra II in 1977.

Underpowered but they handled well for the time...

Never understood why my folks bought that Ghia as I thought the hatchback version was a whole lot better looking. Of course, these are the same parents that bought a brand new 1970 RED Dodge Challenger with a slant six fer cryin' out loud!
That Mustang sure did go, but my buddies used to razz me to no end.

the primary flaws in the AMT/MPC kits were the lack of depth in the chassi/interior floors, and a totally incorrect front end suspension. if you look at my site i corrected these with monogram 64/65 mustang pieces http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/seatbelt/626/home_frame.html
