Need a breather for stock hemi
Posted by miarob on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 5:56 PM
I need a breather for a 70 model hemi. Looks like the 6 pack breather so it will prob work too. It has to be the oval shaped one and not a round one. If anyone has one for trade or knows where to get a resin one please let me know. I'm converting a Superbird into a hemi model. The kit come with a 440 but it found it's way into another car.

hey rob, i built the superbird a few weeks ago, did you see the pic moe put up for me?? its under firemodelman models, (i think), but anyway, if you cant find one , i have a chrome breather from the daytona kit. its only for a single 4 bbl carb though. the daytona had the hemi in it as well, but i decide not to built the kit as it is a really bad kit, as a matter of fact , you can have the whole thing if you want??? i'm not even going to try and build itSmile

Thanks guys but this is what I need...

I'm trying to keep it stock so I need the correct hemi breather like the one in the pic. Is this what you have Dave? If so I would like to get it from you if you don't mind. BTW Dave, your package went out today.

Moparman, I know what you are talking about but, all of the 1970 Hemi Superbirds that I have found all have this type of breather(6 pack type) on them. I have a couple of the stock round hemi breathers. I just assumed that they used the 6 pack ype on all the hemi Superbirds, is this correct? The pic that I showed is hemi bird and I have several others with the same one.

This is the same engine without the breather.

The 1968 and 1969 AMT Roadrunner and GTX both have the aircleaner you need. It's a 2 piece assembly,an it's a really nice looking assembly. The engine in the kit is a Hemi by the way.It won't look right in the Superbird, though,As it is a 1/25 scale, and the Superbird is 1/24 (assuming you are using the Revel).I built a Hemi Superbird last year, and used the Hemi from the Revel 'Cuda kit. It's a big engine, and looks great in the 'Bird. The engine dropped right in on the frame rails.I took 2 1967 Hemi Charger intakes and made one longer intake (the 1/25 intake fits perfectly width-wise on the 1/24),due to the fact that the 'Cuda intake is crap.I also used the front cover/waterpump from the '67 Charger for more realism. For the exhaust manifolds,I used the 'Cuda parts, but I cut the exhaust pipes from them and used the "H" pipe from the Charger with scratchbuilt pipes from the mufflers to the rear. The rear axle from the Charger also fits nicely,as does the front suspension.Hey,I'm sorry for babbling.Good luck with your 'Bird.
