hemi engines in 1/12 or 1/8 scale
Posted by mishalah on Monday, January 19, 2004 7:14 AM
I need several 1/8 and 1/12 Chrysler hemi engines for large scale projects.

Also 1/8 Ford DFV air intake stacks for the Lotus 72D F1 car (aluminum).

thanks.

I know this won't be of much help, so please bear with me.
I used to have a web site bookmarked that sold both 1/12 and 1/8 HEMI engines. The 1/8 engine was even offered in two versions, one had complete internal components!
The problem is my old computer died and I didn't copy the URL. Dunce
I'll keep searching and get back with what I find. I thought by at least posting this that you could possibly find them before I do. If so, don't keep it to yourself! Smile,Wink, & Grin

Are you thinking of George Z's site..."Let's Get Small", or something like that? He does custom made 1/12 and 1/8 bodies and some full kits. I think I saw some engine info somewhere, but everytime I called or emailed him about buying one of his cars he never had any to sell, or wasn't going to be doing any of what I wanted, or....blah, blah, blah. After 5 or 6 years i just gave up.

I have never understood people who advertise a list of specialty models for sale, and then never seem to be able to produce them. CMA (Creative Miniature Assoc.) was like that. They advertised an unbelievable GT40 (#2) for $1250 for the kit, and $3500+ for a built-up. After many years of inquiring when the would be ready, I finally gave up on them too.

I know Revell had a 1/12 motocycle called the Hemi Beach Trike, and maybe in 1/8, too. But they are hard to find and the price is pretty high for just using the engine. In fact, there was a 1/12 on Ebay last week, but it was in Germany. At $50+ for the model and $45 for shipping, it just wasn't worth it.

I have a nice Parma hemi and two SBCs, but they are 1/10 and I don't know how to make them fit anything but a "funny" 1/12 or a custom 1/8 car.

There's gotta be some somewhere.

Yes, "Let's Get Small" is the site. Thanks for jogging my memory! I checked his site and it has changed in the last year or so, and he doesn't list as many items that he used to list. The URL is below if you want to give it a look!
I also have one of the Parma engines which aren't too bad, actually kinda nice. But 1/10?!
I have looked at the Revell 1/8 HEMI powered trike, but was also put off by the high price. Once in a while, someone puts up a box of 1/8 parts that includes that engine, so look in the 1/8 cars as well as motorcycle categories.
Good luck!
