Back to the Future kit question. ANSWERED.
Posted by railroad on Thursday, March 19, 2020 12:54 PM

I've got the idea bouncing around my head of building a stock Delorean. My kids got me the polar lights back to the future a long time ago for Father's Day and when I built it I thought the body looked wierd. So my question is, which kit has the most accurate body. The polar lights offering or the old amt offering? I know there is also the aoshima offering, but I believe that is the same kit as amt? If I am wrong about it being the same as the amt and it is better, that knowledge would be helpful too. Thanks.

The Aoshima and AMT kits are indeed the same tooling, and to my eye it always looked the best. The PL kit is so close that many of the parts can be swapped between kits, but the Aoshima/AMT still has the edge.

Thanks for your reply Spencer1984. I was thinking the same thing, but wanted to double check. Research never hurts.Laugh I remember seeing one about 2 yrs ago that the guy restored. He painted his a metallic black & I remember it actually looked really nice. I'm thinking of doing the same thing with the kit. I just haven't  made up my mind if I want to give it an engine like I did my pantera build?
