Yup, everything that Rick said. My personal preference is Evergreen plastic. Sheet plastic is available in white and clear, and in many different thicknesses. Also, many different shapes of strips, rods, tubes, etc. It's a nice soft styrene plastic that is easy to cut, carve, sand and shape. Get it at a well stocked hobby store, or here

Evergreen and Plastruct both have websites where you can order directly from them.  However there are other places to buy sheet.  "For Sale" etc. signs at WalMart are a great source for sheet plastic, or if there is a sign shop in your area they quite often use sheet styrene and may either give you some of their scraps or sell them to you for a nominal fee.  If you are looking for rods, tubes, or other shapes then you will need to go to a well stocked hobby shop or order online.

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!
