the straw idea had crossed my mind, thank you all for the assistance. Sounds like a great item for the aftermarket people to make. I build all types of racing and would be a big fan.

Hi vintagegarage,

I just read your post and I have some pieces I bought a long time ago from a company called Scale Model Speedway that was located in Owensburg Kentucky. i tried to contact them but can find nothing on them any longer. They are in fact 'duct hose' and there are two 6" pieces per package and I have two sizes, 3" and 1.5". Believe me they look exactly like 'duct hose' and were obviously meant for stock cars.

For some reason I can't send you a Personal Message so send me one if you can and if I can reply to it we can talk about it.

If by chance you could post a picture, we might be able to figure out what they were and find them. I too have used the narrow, flexi straws. Quite effective but took some getting used to installing them.

My favorite color is clear. I am also ambidexterous, I can screw up equally well with either hand. I am 53 years old and been building for most of that time. :)

On the bench... somewhere. Pink Panther show car, 1978 Dodge Magnum Charger Daytona Midnight edition SE 300. Mongrel T.

I guess it would depend on the application but for my Jeff Gordon build I used the flexible part of a drinking straw, stretched it out and then wrapped it in chrome foil and then pushed it back short again. It gave a pretty accurate look for the era of race car I was doing and I was then able to bend it where-ever it had to go.

Feelings are like scents: The more they are analyzed, the worse they smell.
