Wire Wheels
Posted by oldcarguy on Sunday, April 29, 2018 7:34 AM

 Hi All;

 I do have a legitimate question here . I like wire wheels on many of my American cars ( Caddys , Buicks , Pontiacs etc.) I seem to be able to find wire wheel kits alright .BUT ! They are always for some Ferrari !

 Now I don't have anything against the Commendatores's cars . I just want wires for American Iron . H.E.L.P.--- OldCarGuy

A Dayton type wheel , or a bolt on type wire wheel?

"rare" kit? no such thing!

build it, dont let it sit on the shelf.....

you cant take it with you, hearses dont have luggage racks......

Dale ;

 It would be what we call a Kelsey Hayes type and also the Daytons .The thing is I need both the modern , and classic large wheel and tyre type . Yes I spell Tire whichever way strikes . Tyre makes sense .

 Why ? Well When you work hard your body tires ., Get it ?

G'day oldcarguy.  I have had a look thru some of my kits, and I don't know if this is what you're after, but for what it's worth, AMT's 65 Riviera has optional wire wheels in the kit, and also Lindberg's 53 Ford convertible Indy pace car.  My old faded memory tells me the Silhouette show car also had optional wires (the original issue with the futuristic trailer), but I can't be sure.

Moebius' 56 Chrysler 300B has 'looks like' wires, as does Tamiya's Mk II Jaguar (1/24 scale, have a look at MrMike's recent build).  I hope this helps.  Cheers.
