MPC 75 Laguna? Looking Hard!
Posted by Diehard on Friday, January 2, 2004 11:14 AM
Am looking for the 1975 Chevy Laguna kit from MPC. It was a special semi-fantasy "Hawaian Tropic" stock car from the film "The Cannonball Run."
I just found out they made it and I am trying to replicate a Dale Earnhardt car that he ran at Charlotte on only his second NASCAR WC effort. It was sponsored by the U.S. Army and I have pics for reference but no car.
I really need to find two kits since the Army also sponsored Donnie Allison at Darlington (I got LOTS of pics of that one!)
I work for the Army (civilian) and was involved in their sponsorship. We did Buddy Baker too but I can get that car (Ford,)
Any help would be appreciated a great deal.

The Hawaian Tropic car was ran that year by Donnie Allison in the 1 car. It was owned by Harry Renear. You could use the cutlass and add the rear side window fin's and put the gas cap on the left hand side up on top of the rear fender. I just looked at Model Express and they do not list it so its going to be real hard to fined one.

I went to a "gentleman's club" because the sign said they had all the hottest models. I thought it was a hobby shop. Man, was I ever disappointed.

You know I think Larsen Hobby in New Lenox, Illinois has that kit. 815-485-1991. Ask for Bill.

Larsen Hobby does have that kit. 1975 Laguna Hawaiian Tropic by MPC. It's sitting on his counter waiting for you to call.
