Did they ever make 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix?
Posted by Wick Humble on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 1:19 PM

I began modifying an old annual AMT 1963 Pontiac Bonneville HT kit into a '63 Grand Prix, then it occurred to me that someone might have done this, either one of the 'bigs' or a resin source.  Hacking off the original 'convert top' hardtop and grafting on an AMT (?) accessory concave-rear-window roof was easy. now I'm worried about how accurate the specail grille(s) will be.

I got a few miles in on a 1:1 Bonne, and though it was a super nice car, I always thought the ribbed f.fender/door trim was gauche, esp vs. the GP.

The closest you will find is the original AMT '64 Grand Prix.

There was never a '63 produced, although there may be a resin one out there somewhere.

The problem with modifying a Bonneville is the wheel base.

The Grand Prix was built on the shorter Catalina chassis.

120 inches as compared to the 124 inch Bonneville.

4 inches doesn't sound like a lot, but it makes a huge difference in appearance.

MCW Resin makes a '63 Grand Prix resin kit.
