Travel Trailers
Posted by TimBaker on Monday, October 26, 2015 2:57 PM

I have been looking for 1/25 travel trailers (Shasta, Airstream, and etc...) but cant find any.  I see the die cast models but are there any kits out there anywhere?

I would check with Modelhaus as I believe that they offer one or two types of travel trailers.

I've heard lots of good things about Modelhaus products but would like to see a built version of the Shasta trailer just to know exactly what I'm getting.

I built a trailer many, many years ago but don't know what company it was from and would like to make sure it's different from that one.

Modelroundup.com has the modelking Open Road Camper and Racers Wedge parts pack in stock. The camper can either be mounted on a truck frame or as a trailer and it has a lift off top so you can see the detailed interior. It's a bit pricey at$39.90. I believe it is now out of production.

don;t throw that away,i can use it!

thanks for telling me about modleroundup.  thats a neat site.  I am thinking that one of the model companies should make travel trailers.  they seem to make everything else from gravel trucks to car haulers.  I bet trailer owners would buy them as well as modelers.  Nostalga is in and i think they would be a big hit.

If you are considering buying a kit from Modelhaus you may want to hurry it up as they are getting ready to go out of business.

I build models because I can't afford the real thing!

I did some searching online and found that trailer Modelhaus offers is different from the one I built years ago so decided to order it.

Yes, I've read that they will be ending their business in the near future so I wasted no time. Also hear they're way behind in orders due to unfortunate circumstances and because everyone is ordering stuff before time runs out. I can wait. Plenty to do and knowing a quality kit is coming someday is nice to look forward to.

I don't know if you care to try scratch building one, but plans and pictures for pretty much any trailer you could want is on the internet.

I am not familiar with this company so I cannot recommend or not recommend them; but they do carry a travel trailer.  Hope this helps

Hi Tim ;

I don't know of any real good ones . I did this . I used to be a full time R.V.er with my late Missus . I just called up Forest River and told them I would like to make a model of my " All American " toy Hauler R.V. !

They complied , but only after I had to do a run to Indiana to address a severe Warranty issue on the frame ! Then it was no problem . I haven't gotten it finished as the slide-outs are creating problems .

I have used the Trailer from Model King as a source for wheels etc .

It's fun to work on once in a while . I dread when it comes to painting though . An Eagle with the flag flowing from his talons and fluttering the full length of the coach . My trailer was a forty foot fifth - wheel . Then there were four slides and the back door/ramp .

I intend to finish it afore going to the big bench , you know where .( I hope ). I don't think they have benches in the other place ! O.C.G. - - LOL.LOL.
