Forum Guidelines

Just tried to open a reply to the "How many pictures" post in Forum Guidelines and was denied access.  When I opened the Forum Guidelines section there is no place to start a new post.  What is happening with that.  Just wanted to ask if there is anyone really doing anything about some of these posts with excessive pictures?  Any model can be displayed in five or six pictures over two posts.  If someone else asks for a clearer picture of some detail, than another picture could be posted for clarification.

That was another one of Jim's rules that made no sense. There's no need for it to be enforced any longer.

I don't understand the need for multiple pictures taken at one angle, then move the camera over a fraction, take a picture and move the camera over a fraction, repeat, repeat, repeat, over and over again.  Why not follow a basic rule... one picture for the front, driver's side front, driver's side, driver's side rear, rear, passenger side rear, passenger side, passenger side front, interior, engine compartment, and chassis.  Do we really need to see 20+ pictures from the same angle?

The reason for Jim's 3 picture rule is that the forum servers don't have the room for way too many pictures.  Jim wanted 3 pictures taken from the best angles for one posting.  Any additional pictures can be posted another posting of 3 pictures.

Until I hear otherwise from Robby or Mark, I will stick with 3 pictures per posting.  There really is no need for too many pictures per posting.

I'm with you. I can't believe people are whining about how many pics someone posts. Too much time on ones hands I guess.

It is really frustrating to log into a build and see 15 or more pictures, with some of them multiples or so close it is hard to tell any difference.  A close-up of a door is a bit much, unless the builder has performed some amazingly different work on the door.  Another problem with these multitude of picture is someone will come along and "quote" the complete post just to say "x2".

I agree on quoting pictures in posts, but I don't really care how many the op puts in the post.

I would rather look at 15 photos of a finished model in one post than 50 or 60 in a progress thread where the builder has posted a photo of almost every piece painted and glued on. Sad  Those take forever to load even with high speed 'net. I've lost interest before the latest photos load.

Agreed. When I do a WIP I take pics of completed assemblies.

So what do we reckon is enough? 3 or 10 or 20?
