April Fools Issues
Posted by tachyonbb on Saturday, March 03, 2018 6:34 PM

I just received my April issue and it brought back memories of the excellent April fools issues Scale Auto used to do.  The cover this year exclaimed a special 4-Barrel how with 21 full pages and either I missed something (which at my age is way to often) or it was another April fools.

The best April fools articles in my opinion were the "empty box" issue where they tested the air in a sealed model box with no parts inside and declared the air was old making it a rare collectable and the time they used giant rulers to make us think a 1/8th scale model (maybe 1/12th) was an amazing miniature model with incredible detail.  It was also fun to read the next issue as people thought real articles were an April fool's article.

I also remember one they did with a photo of a clear body and said it got that way by dipping the plastic body to remove the plastic color pigment.

If you thought this was an issue with articles on carburetor detailing, you are not alone. When I got my copy home I flipped through it, and when I got to the end I thought, "Where are the carbs?". I now think they were refering to articles on interior detailing.
