About Straightliner1

I've been building since 8th grade. I took a break from probably late '76 until about 1982, when I returned to building. I never stopped appreciating models, I just had too many distractions during those years--you know, sex, drugs and rock and roll--the usual distractions for someone in their late teens and early twenties.

When  I first began building, I had a friend who built very cool, clean and somewhat detailed models. He beat me in the monthly contests at the local hobby shop repeatedly! Rather than being discouraged, I strove to improve my skills. And, I did. Upon my re-entry to the hobby, I was very fortunate to have met and befriended Don Fahrni. His incredible skills drove me to push myself ever harder. He mentored me. Within a couple of years, he saw me as as his peer. I've never felt that I could match his skills, but, that's insignificant, because it's our friendship that mattered most. The point here, is that it's those friendships, and that sharing of ideas between modelers that is most important!
